Will a hdmi to dvi cable work with my ps3?
Probably not. Unless your monitor accepts a digital DVI input (not likely), you're probably out of luck. DVI has numerous variations. CRT monitors usually will only support analog DVI.

How do I get my PS3(HDMI) to computer(DVI) to work?
You can't directly plug the PS3 into the computer. Both the PS3 and computer ports are video out, not video in. You need to connect the PS3 and computer to a display, not to each other.
