How to Install Indoor-Outdoor Thermometers:
- Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the screws from the sensor's battery compartment and insert batteries. Replace the back of the sensor's battery compartment with the screws in line and screw to close
- Choose the locations for mounting the thermometer and the outdoor remote sensor. If you are not using a wireless indoor-outdoor thermometer you will need to mount the units no more than 10 feet from one another as you will have to run the cord from the thermometer to the sensor unit
- Drive a screw into the wall at the location you chose to mount the unit. The screw schould extend an eighth of an inch from the wall
- Mount the indoor-outdoor thermometer by placing the keyhole slot on the back of the thermometer over the screw and push down until it falls into place
- Drive a screw into the location where you chose to mount the remote sensor and repeat steps. If you are using a thermometer that has a cord, then you will need to route the outdoor sensor's cord from the thermometer to the outside location of the thermometer

01-25-2011- Other Thoughts: Much more accurate attached to outside of window than other products, as sensor is NOT as affected by interior temperature of room.

- Can I use a meat thermometer in place for a candy thermometer when makeing peanut brittle?
The increments the temperature is stated in on a meat thermometer are not small enough to replace a candy thermometer! You need to be really precise in order not to burn the peanut brittle! Try Bed Bath and Beyond, or linens n things! They will have it, or Williams Sonoma. Although I got mine from Wal-Mart years ago, and have seen them many times in Kroger as well!
- What type of thermometer should you buy to take a dog's temperature and what is the gentlest way to do it?
I used to work for a breeder of show and pet quality dogs. When a dam was pregnant we had to take her temp twice a day.
We did this with a few simple tools. An electric thermometer (the kind you would stick under your tongue), some Vaseline, and some rubber gloves.
Dip the thermometer in the Vaseline, and get a decent coating on it.
Put your rubber gloves on.
Hold the dog by the base of it's tail.
Gently insert the thermometer into the dog's rectum being careful to not push it in too deep. Keep them still until it beeps and gives you a reading, and then gently remove it.
- How do I use an oven thermometer?
All you have to do is hang in anywhere in the oven and leave it there. turn your oven on. and when the temp light goes out on the front of the oven read the thermometer.
it is as accurate as any other thermometer.
just put it in and read it.
