How to Connect USB Speakers?
If you like to listen to music or watch a movie on your laptop but the built-in speakers just aren't very good, there is a simple solution--install a pair of USB speakers. It's quick, easy and the quality of sound that comes from them can rival that of a high-fidelity stereo system

How to Use USB Speakers at the Same Time as Regular Speakers?
Things You'll Need: External sound card & Audio playing program
USB speakers plug into a computer's USB port rather than the standard 3.5 mm input that regular speakers use. Once you connect the USB speakers to the computer, the operating system will automatically switch the audio stream to the USB speakers. However, by using a secondary, external sound card, you can plug the USB speaker into the computer and the 3.5 mm speakers into the secondary sound card
Package Included:
A speaker consists of one or more magnets, called voice coils, which are mounted at the narrowest part of a cone(s). The cone may be made of paper, cardboard, or Kevlar. When the amplifier receives a signal, it amplifies it, creating current. The current causes the magnet to move, which distorts the cone. When the magnet relaxes, the cone returns to its original shape, after a few oscillations. The cone moving back and forth compresses the air in front of it, causing a wave to travel away from the cone. That wave is the same frequency as the signal the amplifier received.
Even the most sophisticated speakers are relatively simple things. At the core, the speaker driver is an electromagnet, a coil of wire. That electromagnet sits on top of a conventional magnet. The amplifier sends sine waves of electricity to the speaker. At the peak of the wave, the electromagnet turns all the way on, pushing it away from the conventional magnet and shoving air forward. At the crest of the wave, the electromagnet turns off and is pulled back towards the electromagnet. It pulls air with it. The electricity is turned into the movement of air. That's what you hear as sound.
Find the dock adapter that came in the box with your iPod touch. Locate the dock connector on the bottom of your iPod touch. It looks like a slim line; the size should match the dock adapter. Line the iPod touch's dock connector up with the dock adapter and push it down. It should slide down easily and click into place. If it is not going down easily, you are probably doing something wrong; take the iPod touch off the dock adapter and try again. Connect the audio cable from your speakers to the audio input jack of the dock adapter.Turn the speakers on and play music from your iPod touch as usual.
