Select a Proper Video Camera:
- Choose a B/W video camera or a color video camera that can automatically switch to B/W function at night
- The camera shall be sensitive to 850nm infrared and have 1/3inch or bigger CCD
- Better effect can be achieved with illumination intensity less than 0.001Lux
- If a normal color video camera is to be used, please remove the IR filter in front of the CCD of the camera and replace it with a suitable IR filter that lets 850hm Infrared light pass
- Although it's feasible to use without filter, sometimes color distortion may occur
- Select a Proper Lens: Choose a lens of comparatively high luminous flux (or low F value), and the better bigger than 1/3 inch
- Optimum Installing Distance of Infrared Illuminator: The position of 1/2 of the viewing range is the best place for installing the infrared illuminator. (Test with 1/3" B/W CCD video camera)
Caution:
- Pay attention to adjustment of lens with automatic diaphragm. Every lens with automatic diaphragm is driven either by DC way and VIDEO way. In application, please accurately adjust it for the automatic control level to well match the infrared illuminator for best night vision effect. Improper adjustment way obviously impair the illuminating distance of the Infrared illuminator
- Deviation of the installing angle should not exceed 2° (from the horizontal plane of the video camera)
- Temperature of the work environment shall be between -20°C and 50°C
Infrared Illuminators:
- If things are going bump in the night, there's no reason you can't watch them. Even though CCTV cameras need light to pick up images and can't get a clear picture in the dark, that's not a problem if you have an infrared illuminator. By flooding the area with invisible infrared light, IR illuminators let you keep an eye on intruders who mistakenly think nighttime is the right time to break in.
How Do Infrared Illuminators Work?
- An IR-illuminator is a device that emits infrared light-low frequency electromagnetic radiation that's outside the visible spectrum. In other words, it gives off light that a camera can pick up and use, but that a person can't see-so while it's still dark to the human eye, the camera can see just fine.
IR Illuminators and CCTV:
- IR illuminators are especially useful for CCTV systems, which use surveillance cameras to monitor banks, shopping malls, government facilities-even private homes. Since security breaches are likely to happen after hours, it pays to be able to see these facilities clearly in the dark. Speco IR-200 Infrared IlluminatorOf course, if you want IR-illumination to work, you have to use the right cameras. Black-and-white surveillance cameras are the most IR-sensitive; most color-cameras are equipped with filters that block out infrared light to enhance image quality. Many manufacturers have come out with IR-sensitive dual-mode cameras, which offer color images and can switch from daytime to night vision automatically, but the IR-sensitivity of these, too, varies according to the camera. So if you're investing in a CCTV system and want to incorporate IR illumination, make sure you check the cameras for IR-sensitivity in advance.
Types of IR Illuminators:
- There are three main types of IR illuminators: diodes, lamps, and lasers. Diodes are small, inexpensive, and good for short-range illumination. They also require relatively little power to operate. Infrared lamps are more expensive to buy and maintain, but they can operate at greater distances and are often better for facial identification. Lasers are excellent for long-range image clarity, even in inclement weather, but they're big, expensive, and potentially harmful to the eye if not handled correctly-which is why they're usually only reserved for military use.

04-22-2011- Other Thoughts: I got this to see a disabled person on a monitor during the night. The light works great, but I did take off one star because of the heat it <br/>gives off. It is very hot to the touch when on, this is not a significant problem, but one I wasn't expecting. Otherwise, I'm completely satisfied with the purchase.

03-26-2011- Other Thoughts: This unit works Great. Once you aim it, you can forget it. The infrared light is invisible to the eye but my camera now sees great in the dark. Since it turns on automatically it requires no supervision. I now get clear images of intruders who mistakenly think its too dark to be seen. I'll be ordering more of these illuminator units for my other cameras that need help seeing in the dark. Thanks Much...

03-12-2011- Other Thoughts: I am the supply for this item, Please be sure your IR camera is infrared light sensitive before you buy this illuminator. If your camera is not IR sensitive, therefore you will have trouble seeing in the night vision. Otherwise You can buy our items YY-W100 or YY-W50 to see color image on your camera.

02-28-2011- Other Thoughts: I got this IR lamp to support our Sony SR45 for night vision video during our paranormal investigations. We used it for a tripod mounted camcorde that was stablized in one place shooting down a large hall. It worked wonderfully well at lighting the room. Our night vision shots looked almost like we shot them during the day light hours. The lamp does need a plug in power sourse but could be modified to accept support from battery power. The IR light does defuse and reflect off the wall paint so you get good back lighting also.

02-19-2011- Other Thoughts: I hooked this up above my external home security night camera attached to the backyard of my house. Looking through the camera, it looks like my backyard is lit up like a flood light, yet when I physically walk into the backyard, it is dark like normal. <br/> <br/>I was surprised how easy it was to hook up and how well it works. I highly recommend this for people with dark areas that need illimuniated at night!

01-21-2011- Other Thoughts: This has been up and running for a year now. I have 4 cams on my high def dvr and with the YY Trade IR100 I have no dark spots in my yard or the street in front of my house. Because it is more of a spot light, I would recommend mounting this up high like 20ft to get a wider light padern without loosing dis.

01-08-2011- Other Thoughts: I installed those boxes about 20 feet above the ground and they work great; the spot light lights up where I need it. Looking through the monitor that hooked up to the IR camera, my yards are all lit up, but when you physically take a peek at the yards, it is all dark. The only drawback is that the twin power transistors inside these IR illuminators are too hot to touch when the units are operating. I am afraid they might burn out someday if not with a heat sink or computer mini fan.

12-18-2010- Other Thoughts: I have this IR illuminator to support my Sony IR surveillance cameras at night. I bought two of them; one is for front yard, the other is for my backyard. The IR illuminator works excellent but with a very narrow light beam instead of a wide spread flood light. It works superb if you need night vision for your security cameras at a distance. Despite the visible red dots to the human eyes because this product emits IR wave length 850nm, overall it is an excellent product for such a reasonable price.
