    • This 4 Channel DVR Card is really a wonderful product for you
    • Dynamic recording, sensor recording, timing recording and successive recording

    • Digital video recorder (DVR) cards allow you to capture a video source, such as a VCR player or video camera, and save a copy of the video to your computer. If your computer has a free Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) card slot, you can connect a DVR card directly to the slot. There are many different brands and models of DVR cards available, so you will need to consider all of your options before making a final decision
    • Using your home PC as a central hub for a surveillance system is a cost-effective method of improving home security. Cameras that operate on a wireless network that your home is most likely already running eliminate the need to drill holes to run wiring to and from your computer, although that remains a (oftentimes cheaper) option. Before purchasing any PC surveillance equipment, make sure to research the latest brands and prices online

    • Check your computer's manual to make sure that you have an open PCI slot available on your motherboard. Go with an external video capture card, such as the ,Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1950, if you don't have any remaining PCI slots available
    • Consider what type of input plug you will be using, such as an S-video cable from a video camera or an RCA jack from a VCR. Check to make sure that the DVR card includes that type of input jack
    • Choose a DVR PCI card that has both type of jacks, such as the KWorld VS-ATSC120, if you will be using both type of input plugs
    • Find out if the DVR PCI card includes TV tuning capabilities for receiving a television signal directly on your computer. Pick a card, such as the Asus Falcon2,if you want to stream television programming to your computer and record shows for viewing later
    • Read through the specifications for the DVR PCI card to ensure that it is compatible with your computer's operating system. Not all DVR PCI cards are compatible with Windows Vista
    • Take into account the type of software that is bundled with the DVR PCI card. Choose a card, such as the Lorex VistaPro, if you want a card that includes password protection software for your recorded video and the ability to directly burn video to a DVD

How to Turn Your PC into a Home Surveillance System:

    • Asses your home's security needs and determine where you need to place cameras. If placing them outside, make sure your cameras are weatherproofed and placed in inconspicuous locations
    • Mount your cameras. Depending on the camera, you may need to drill pilot holes and mount them using screws. Mounting hardware should be included. If the cameras are adhesive backed, peel the protective paper away and press them firmly against the mounting surface. If using wired cameras, check to make sure your wiring is long enough to run back to the PC
    • If using wired cameras remove the side of your PC's case and install the DVR capture card into one of the PCI slots on your motherboard. Attach the appropriate power connector if necessary. Be sure to secure the card to the case with the included screw(s). Replace the case siding
    • Install the included DVR capture software and configure its options to suit your specific needs. Toggle motion sensing, time lapse and recording times
    • If using wireless cameras, connect the wireless receiver to the appropriate ports on your PC. Typically, these receivers use Firewire or USB but consult your owner's manual for details specific to your model
    • Install the software included with the wireless receiver. Make sure that all cameras are operating on the same frequency or channel and that the wireless receiver is a receiving clear picture from each camera

    • Be sure that your computer has enough hard drive space to record video
    • Switching your cameras to "motion sensing" mode can save hard drive space
    • Oftentimes, wired cameras have higher resolution at lower prices than wireless cameras but installation is more difficult
