How to Compare Camera Lenses:
- Make certain the compared camera lenses actually fit the type and model camera. Many cameras have screw mounts where others offer a bayonet type mount. Many cameras don't have removable lenses at all
- Consider the type of photography when comparing camera lenses. The lens is responsible for the effect on an image so pair the lens with the scene. Landscape shooting requires a wide-angle lens, whereas a portrait lens uses a shorter focal length
- Try out each lens on the camera body and take a few test photos. Reputable retailers allow photographers to bring in their cameras and mount the lens before buying
- Compare apples to apples when buying camera lenses. Higher quality lenses are more expensive and typically yield brighter, crisper images due to better construction and higher quality materials. If the deal looks too good to be true, it probably is
- Understand that many camera lenses that work with 35mm cameras will not work with newer DSLR cameras. The 35mm lens systems use a different focal length for the full frame of film. Most DSLRs utilize a smaller image frame than 35mm cameras so the image recorded is adversely affected

04-06-2011- Other Thoughts: I love the price of this lens for what I got. It's plastic so I will be very careful when changing lenses, but my pictures have turned out so pretty.

05-04-2011- Other Thoughts: If you want to take your pictures to the next level, you can't afford not to buy this lens. If you want to take honest photos, instead of relying on your editing software for narrow depth of field etc., this will give you the ability. Using a prime lens has taught me a lot about photography, and made me better at my craft.

04-28-2011- Other Thoughts: After getting this and using it for couple of weeks, this lens is a MUST. It is cheap, sharp, fast, and great for portrait. I love it. My only complaints (which are minor) will be the noise from the motor (which is not big deal from me at all), slow auto focus, and the build (have to be careful with it).

05-27-2011- Other Thoughts: After reading others' reviews of this lens, the purchase seemed an obvious 'do it'. Why? Because of the picture quality obtained from a lens that costs little more than about $150.00. But yes, it's made of plastic and if you drop it, it may come apart. But so what? Buy another one.

It's a fine lens for the money.
