Is it normal for somone to scream when they hear the phone or door bell ring?
Some hypertensive people do react this way to sudden or unexpected noises. It may not be 'normal' strictly speaking, but that is not to say that it is 'weird' either. It is just a coping tool that is more overt than some of mine and yours.

How can I use my telephone as an intercom to connect another phone?
You need to call your phone company and create a link between the two which will be on one of the speed dials. If the phones are very close, then you can get an electrician to connect them with a wire that will allow intercom again via speed dial.

My intercom (entry phone) makes a loud noise when I pick it up to see who is at the door. How do I solve this?
If it has a volume setting, at the door end, reduce it. The mic is picking up the speaker's sound making a feedback noise. Hope that helps.
