I had no trouble installing this on my Windows XP desktop; I just put it in the PCI slot, turned my computer back on, and it started working. It in includes a CD of drivers, but these will only be necessary for older operating systems. <br/> <br/>Both the firewire and USB 2.0 work as expected. <br/> <br/>The box even includes short (looks like about 3-foot) firewire cable, which I wasn't expecting and which saved me having to buy one.

The card works great. I dropped it in and wha-la it worked with out any fuss. The only problem I had was that the USB ports are vertical rather than the usual horizontal. This was a problem because my computer case's PCi slots are slightly more narrow compared to other cases. However, my USB plugs do fit, it's just slightly more snug than I would like. I do like this product and I would recommend it to any one looking to add peripherals, just make sure you have enough clearance.

Many times, computer hardware that's supposed to be "plug & play", for a variety of reasons, isn't. This was an exception. Stuck it in the slot, turned on the PC, & "Bingo". Windows XP found it, no problem. Works great & it's dirt cheap, too. Great deal.

I ordered this product on a Thursday, it shipped on Friday, and I had it on Monday. Installed it on Tuesday, and it worked perfectly right away. Even came with a firewire cable. Windows Vista installed the ports automatically on startup. Everything plugged in easily without access difficulties and worked flawlessly. Could not be more pleased.

My 3 year old Dell Dimension 8200 performs well for my needs, and with all the problems with Vista I am not ready to upgrade my system. I purchased the system with a Firewire card for my video editing before USB 2.0 became the standard. I wanted to replace the Pci card to provide both USB 2.0 and Firewire connections. The Belkin product seemed the best option including price. It proved to be a snap to install and program.It has been performing to my expections.

I bought one of these and it wasn't recognized in Windows XP or 7 64bit. I emailed the company and they sent a new one free of charge. I must say I was very happy with their customer service! The new one didn't allow me to use the Firewire in Windows 7 64bit but it worked in Windows XP on the same system (I dual boot XP and 7). If you need it for Windows 7 Firewire I would recommend a more expensive brand card that is known to be compatible with 64bit. Otherwise for its price it is a great little card.

Been looking into upgrading to 1394 for some time. I have a Motorola 6412 from my cable company and I was hoping that I could use this to offload some needed episodes from the DVR. Also like the fact that this card also has USB as sometimes I needed more than the 6 USB's I previously had. I simply plugged the card in (after a case mod, see below) and Windows 7 64 bit installed all the needed drivers. The USB ports work fine and apparently the 1394 works also, but I can't test to confirm. The 1394 seems to recognize the Motorola STB, but apparently there is a driver issue for the Motorola.
