No the Wii charging station is not necessary, but if your a person who plays Wii a lot i suggest you buy the charge station, because the remote uses the batteries really fast. But heres another suggestion: You can get rechargeble batteries too.
At least 2nd remote, but you may want to buy all four for a full Wii party. Don't waste your time with internet. You can surf, download Virtual Console games and play some games online. The Wii has a built-in wireless card. If you have a wireless router and broadband (DSL or cable), then you can connect the Wii to the internet. BTW, Virtual Console games are classic games like NES, SNES, N64, Sega, Tubrographx games. Before buying tons of accessories, figure out what games you want to buy first. If you are buying Mario Party, then you want all remotes. Most games are 1-2 players and you don't need to buy tons of remotes.
You'll need the european voltage convertor. The DS Lite's charger is for 110 volt. Found one at Maplin for you.
