    How to Charge a PS3 Controller on a PC:

    • Make sure that your PC is turned on. The PS3 controller will require a power feed from whatever it's plugged into in order to charge
    • Locate the USB port on your PC. This will look like a small rectangle plug and will usually be located on the front or back panel of your PC
    • Plug the USB cord from the Playstation 3 console into the USB port on your PC. This cord will have a normal-sized USB plug on one side, and an oddly-shaped mini USB plug on the other side. The USB cord is keyed so that it will only plug in one way, so you don't have to worry about plugging it in incorrectly
    • Plug the PS3 controller into the mini USB cord that is attached to the PC. The four red lights on the top of the controller will flash red. This means that the controller is charging
    • Wait two hours before you unplug the controller from the PC. This will provide you with around 20 hours of playtime

    Tips & Warnings:

    • You can play the Playstation 3 console while your controller is plugged into the PC to charge
    • Do not blow with your mouth or spray compressed air into the PS3's ventilation grates. Doing so can get moisture onto the internal components
    • Use your damp microfiber cloth to wipe off PS3 controllers
    • Do not spray your cleaning solution on the PS3 controller itself--some of the liquid could drip into the ventilation grates and ruin electronic component
    • Spray cleaning solution on the cloth, not directly on the controller

  • I love this product very much, it has a lot of major improvements from the PS2 controllers, first of all its a lot more LIGHTWEIGHT but its still very DURABLE. Second, a lot of PS2 owners may have noticed in shooter games (where the R2 and L2 buttons are used a lot) that the R2 and L2 buttons will get JAMMED under the body of the controller. Well that problem is fixed now with the new HINGED R2 and L2 buttons. I also love the fact that you can PLAY and CHARGE your controller at the same time, instead of waiting for battery life to run out in the middle of a game.

  • The Playstation 2's highly regarded DualShock 2 controller was considered by many to be the best videogame controller of all time. So when you've got a winning design there's no need to change anything. However, because of a legal battle with Immersion over rumble technology, Sony was forced to offer their Sixaxis controller without rumble. The Sixaxis had the same Dualshock design but it felt too lightweight and cheap. Thankfully the lawsuit has been settled and rumble has come back to the Playstation.

    For the most part, the controller is almost identical to its PS2 precessor. But it has all the features of the original Sixaxis controller in addition to rumble. The controller is still wireless, can be charged by plugging it into your PS3 (or PC), rumble is compatible with all PS1 and PS2 games, and the PS3 supports up to 7 controllers at the same time via bluetooth. Rumble in this controller seems more responsive in regards to the location of its vibration depending on which side you get hit on during the games. I don't know if this is something in the design or if it's the developers doing it for the games but I welcome it.

    All in all this is currently the best designed controller on the market right now. The PS2's DS2 was incredible so "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" applies here. I'll be enjoying rumble in my PS3 games from now on.

  • I was already extremely happy with the Sixaxis controller, but I could not resist getting the DualShock 3. Not only do you get the rumble, but also, it feels much better in your hands, even for those games that do not use this feature. The rumble function is fun, but on top of that, it helps with gameplay, because "feeling" what is happening provides a lot more feedback than just watching how your character or car reacts to the environment.

    The biggest surprise of all was that the rumble works with PS 2 games in the PS 3 system. I am currently playing through "God of War", a game which had the rumble capability in PS 2. I thought that it was unlikely that I was going to get this feature with this new controller in the PS 3, but it worked perfectly.

    I know that having to buy a new controller and basically discard the one that came with the system is not the ideal situation, but I have to say this product is really worth shedding the extra bucks.

  • First of all, this is a great controller, with one exception. Button response is great and the dual shock works very well. Although, my only complaint on this controller is that it almost feels like I'm going to break it when I'm in an intense game. It doesn't feel quite as strong as XBOX 360's controller but as far as function and style goes, I prefer Sony's PS3 controller. I may be slightly biased though because I've grown up always owning a Playstation console. If you're a casual gamer though, then don't worry about a thing but hardcore gamers may need to be careful.

  • This is an awsome controller, some of the great features:
    Six Axis sensitivity, allows the PS3 to know where the controller is in "thin air".
    No tremor/rumble; This is a great feature, as I don't like the tremor anyway.
    Light; Yes LIGHT, great for extended play.
    Ease of use; It's familiar to those with the PS2 controller, though I think this one is laid out better, it just feels better in my hand.
    Wireless; Although I do have some issues with the Blue Tooth loosing connectivity, it's clearly the best technology for wireless controllers.
    Web Surfing; It's the easiest thing to surf the web with, except for the Wiimote.
    Doesn't look like it came out of a gum-ball machine like the XBOX 360 controller.
    All in all, it's a great contoller. Get this controller if you have a PS3, if you don't have a PS3, get one and get this controller!

  • I don't understand why everyone hates this controller. It's probably the most ergonomically correct controller on the ps3. I haven't noticed a lag in terms of the wireless dongle, except sometimes the start button won't press at various times, but it could be me. The only negatives about the controller would be that, well to me, the triggers seem a little to small and short, i wish they were longer like the xbox 360 controllers. The analog sticks are a littler tighter and the resistance to them is pretty high, but it gets the job done once you get used to the feel. The dpad is fine, but i wouldn't recommend them for fighting games. I received the black one with rumble and now i can play any FPS game on the ps3 thanks to this controller. I highly recommend this controller to those out there who prefer the xbox 360 controller that own a ps3 console because i believe it adds to the ps3's gaming value.

  • This controller works great. It is lightweight, holds a charge for quite some time, and feels fantastic in the hands. I also have an Xbox and every time I pick up this controller I remember how well it fits in the hand. The lack of a rumble effect is the only thing that keeps it from getting 5 stars.
