The fan intake for the cool air to get into the case is usually at the bottom, so kee your laptop on a hard surface so that the feet on the bottom of the case provide an air gap for cool air to get in.

Every notebook you buy out in the market they are guarantee to get hot and even when they claim that the cpu are cooler they can't justify how long you use the computer for. The problem is the air circulation in the laptop casing most of them can't seem to conduct heat properly and it draws a lot of heat from all over the place your cpu, your hard drive, your disc drive, and of course your motherboard chip set etc
