Why Do You Need a Laptop Cooling Pad?

Heat Source
The reason why a laptop produces so much heat is due to the computer's processor and other electronic components. These electronics are jammed together in a close, tight space with electrical current flowing through the parts, producing heat.
Dangers of Heat
Excessive heat buildup in your laptop can cause the processor and other electronic devices within the computer to fail. The one fan in your laptop is not powerful enough to push out this excessive heat.
What Is a Laptop Cooling Pad?
A laptop cooling pad is a device with two or more fans that work to absorb or expel the excess heat coming from your laptop. The fans are fast and quiet.
Using a Cooling Pad
The laptop cooling pad must be plugged into an available USB port on your laptop. Then sit your laptop on top of the pad and begin using the device. Most pads will come with a USB port to replace the one you had to use on your laptop.
Where to Buy
Cooling pads are easy to find at local computer stores and electronics superstores. Additionally, there are also several websites that sell the devices--see Resources section for one such sellerPackage Included:
- 1 x Folding USB Notebook Cooling 2 Fans
- 1 x USB Cable

01-04-2011- Other Thoughts: Cheap, cheap, cheap build quality. Truly. Not good for putting it on your legs (which was what I initially wanted it for). It's only good to use it on

- How to protect my PC slip from it?
We offer with anti-slip foam pad on each leg, so when you use it you don't need to worry about your PC slip down.
- How do I run more than one cooling fan in my computer?
You can use a second fan from an old power supply screwed to the grill at the rear of the box. You can either use a spare power cable or use a piggyback plug, just check you have the right voltage. Make it an exhaust fan so it doesn't muck up the other fans' airflows.
Do you really need one? It may be that opening the case and clearing out the dust buildup is enough. Remember you are adding more noise and a greater current drain, so don't do it without good cause.
- Can i use a 12v processor cooler fan for cooling my laptop in the usb? i know usb provide 5v, so will it draw only 5v and not harm my laptop
It will not run at all, 5v is too little to run a 12v fan, a 5v cpu or northbridge fan should run.
