Hey all, I have a problem with my iPhone. Whenever I put in my headphones (iPhone 3G 8GB) it doesnt detect them unless I force the headphone jack off to one side. I think the sensor in the bottom of the headphone jack is stuffed and my iPhone is out of warrenty so if I send it off to be fixed I will have to pay an arm and a leg. To try and get around this I have been thinking of making an app for my iphone which will force the sound to be routed to either the headphone jack or the speaker manually instead of automatically. I have jailbroken my iPhone and I have access to the command line and I am thinking I may have to write it there. Does anyone know if this is even remotly possible or am I barking up a invisible tree? Thanks.

I had a similar issue with an iPod Touch. Took it into the Apple store and they replaced it on the spot.
.. I know it's not much help.. but just sharing my experience.

The sensor at the bottom of the headphone jack I believe is the ground connection, the other two on the side will be left and right audio. I wouldn't be surprised if you could do it through an app but before you go to all that hassle can you explain how exactly the connection in the jack is broken – is it possible to add a little bit of solder to try to fix it?
