Decided that I would just post my experience here at Dino Direct. Seems like lots of folks are pretty PO'ed with their experience. So I will post here my experience in purchasing Android 2.2 Tablet PC-aPad-MID-8"TFT Touch Screen-Rockchips Freescale A8 Processor-800MHZ-4G-ARM-DDR2 512MB 11-Wifi-3D Game along with a Android Tablet PC-aPad-MID Protection Shell for 8 inch MID from DinoDirect.

This order was started on Feb 11 2011.

Well I fixed the power issue. Took apart the unit and found out that the battery leads were broken on one side. Creating the issue with charging. Now it charges great and is operating perfectly! However when I went to replace the screen it decided to crack. So if anyone has an in operable one of these with a good screen - maybe we would could get an arrangement going!

Hm... Yes, it would be the best option...

(But I can say that I had a great experience with LITB, at least they have great costumer service)

Think I am just going to give this one to the kids and let them use it as a toy and eReader and will look at purchasing closer to home for better support.

Well just use multimeter and plug the charger in socket.
After that try to connect multimeter to same pins on Droid.

Just set voltage on multimeter on 24v so that you don′t burn out fuse in it.

Would really like to know the pin-out of this 30 pin multi connector? Is it the same as an Apple Ipad? if it is - then the charger appears to be using:

    15 - GND
    16 - GND

    19 - Firewire Power 12 VDC (+)
    20 - Firewire Power 12 VDC (+)

Power problems persist, the unit will charge only if you wiggle things around and if your lucky, get it just right so it will charge.
I have a case opened - so now we get to see if DD is honorable about the products they sell.

So there is a solution to every problem!!!
Great to hear that you have resolved it!

About MSN and Skype---I just wanted to say that you can use them (with USB phone) to use Android a cell phone (in theory that is).

Mine parcel was send by 4px not EMS China as they said (and not DHL as I paid for), but hey, at least it is on its way!

Wow for some reason I have been able to post to this forum must have been an issue - any way seems to be working now. And have some great news (I think so anyway). Have been able to get it to charge! Yeeeaaa.

You do NOT need a step up converter.
You only need the UK>US adapter if your plugs are flat not round.

My issue seems to be with either the cable or the 30 pin port. I noticed when slowly inserting the 30 pin connector into the Android, that the red light flickered bright then dim when fully seated. By slowly inserting (never fully, usually kinda cockeyed) I would stop as soon as I got a bright red light. Then leaving it in the position, the device charged.

Am beginning to think the power thing is just a bust - either the battery is bad and wont charge, or there is something wrong with the way things are wired. I currently have it plugged into a step up converter now (110 > 220), but the more I think about it - I believe the original round prong plug with the USA adapter - plugged into a 110 outlet should have charged it.

Over the weekend for a brief few seconds, I saw the red light glow brighter than normal, and the little green battery - changed to empty and yellow with a lightening bolt - looking like it was charging. Then it went away and I had a solid green again (which should mean full charge) but if I unplug the power cable everything drops.

Not sure I follow your question "Why not use Skype or MSN" - for what?

I don't want the tablet to act like a phone, I want it to stop thinking it is a phone and act like a tablet. There is also no camera in this unit, [I know Skype can be used with or without, but I dont plan to make any phone calls with this device, would have bought an android phone rather than a tablet if I wanted that].

Would be nice if the android os could be told it is not a phone but to act like a tablet instead. Especially when there is no cell hardware like my unit.

Well it would require a SIM slot.
But why don′t you use Skype or MSN?

Still in the same spot. Power is an issue I am awaiting a 220 step up power converter in hopes I can use this with out plugging into the wall.

Aside from that I am loving the droid. Wish there were some things different:
    hate the keyboard
wish email on droid & gmail worked
    same for cal
seems easier to just use web versions
wish i could default to STOP using mobil web pages
    the power issues
web browsing alittle anoying cause of keyboard
    love pretty much everything else
can use as kindle or nook or free reader
    wifi great
    can use windows rds
The more i use the more i like

Really wish the world would go to USB type chargers, so you could plug them into what ever kind of outlet you have. Might need to be more careful, but thats life.

So far that has been my approach as well - really for sorry for the folks that have had a bad experience - so far mine has not been so. Kinda sucks that I cannot charge it, but I am just as much to blame for not having that bit worked out before hand. I did see at LITB that they have similar Droids, and they ship them with multiple chargers - so I will see if I can get on a chat with them and see if we cannot figure out a correct charger. Stiall waiting for my Step up converter, which I am still hopeful will make a difference as well.
