Yes there’s an Android application for these tasks to automate. The name of the application is “Tasker”. It’s a $6.27 application from Android market. For example turn GPS on for any map application like Google maps or set volume to certain level when headphone is plugged in. It can also control Bluetooth/WiFi for different applications. Like set backup to memory card, run application for a specific time, set phone to airplane mode but check messages in every hour and run specific song from library in specific time as ringtone.
