What tradeoffs do you make in gaming when it comes to your monitor?
Do you lower resolution and up AA? or vise versa? Do you want a bigger monitor even if it has less pixels?
The reason why I am asking is because very recently I noticed my brother has a pretty good comp with an over priced monitor. (low pixel count for what the paid).
He can play games and they look gorgeous on even his monitor.. However, I have been wonder at what point does the pixel count stop mattering? I do realize it differs game to game movie to movie ect.
It does however make me start wondering if rather than trying to hook up the comp I am building to a tv I'd just be better off sticking with a decent monitor.
I honestly don't believe with any of the games I play haivng a smaller monitor with more pixels would really give it any signifigant bump. However, I am wondering what other people look for when it comes to gaming and resolution/monitor size ect.

a TV needs to be watched from a long distance while a monitor can be looked at sitting at the desk.
monitors usually have a much higher pixel density (more pixels per square inch)
performance wise, pixel count always make a difference while it is a completely personal preference on size and pixel count. I like higher density over bigger screen (if I was to choose between 20" and 24" with same res Id probably end up with the 20") altho this most likely is cause I got used to my laptop screen which is 1680x1050 in a 15" panel. Older people with worse sight might value the larger text/icons brought by the bigger screen with same resolution.
