what you do is you can get a cord and connect it to your router and the xbox

Well you either need an internet connection in your house whether by a modem or by a router, then you take an ethernet cable and plug one end into the router or modem and the other end into the back of your 360, If you want a wireless connection you have to buy an xbox wireless adapter on dino, but you need a wireless router too in order to connect, then you need to buy a gold membership. or if you just started using Xbox live they will give you a 1 month trial free

As a web browser, you don't.
But the easiest way is to click an ethernet cable from your router or modem to the xbox. Done!
To browse what's on Xbox Live Marketplace and stuff, you will need at least one profile that you've selected as a "Live" profile, meaning it will try to connect to xbox live every time you log into that profile. You will have a silver membership, which allows you to buy downloadable content and get your scores posted on most leaderboards.
Playing online with other actual humans though, requires a "gold" membership, which is a code that Microsoft sells on cards that are about $60 per year.
