What Is the Difference in a Wireless PCI Adapter or Wireless PC Card?
- PCI - PCI is a specification for the design of add-on cards meant to be installed in a desktop computer. These computers use a small white slot, about three inches long, that the edge of a PCI add-on card is meant to be inserted in to
- PC Card - A PC Card is a small, self-contained device that is meant to be plugged into a slot on a laptop computer. A typical PC Card is 85.6mm in length and 54mm in width. The height varies depending on the type of card. While these are typically only used in laptops, desktop adapters do exist
- Function - Essentially, both PCI and PC Card devices are designed to accomplish the same goal. The only real difference is in their form. While there are some low-level electrical differences, these differences are not relevant to the end-user. A wireless card in either form will function exactly the same

06-01-2011- Other Thoughts: I was in need of three USB ports. This PCI filled the need plus updated the speed. <br/>It was simple to install, and worked right away.

05-04-2011- Other Thoughts: It went into a Acer x3950 mini HTPC tower set up for additional eSATA Thermaltake driven SATA drives dedicated for Movies, TV shows Music and Pictures as the tower only has slot for one drive. So far the product has worked as advertized. Easy set up - although had to spend a few minutes to find the drivers on the CD - was not straight forward

05-17-2011- Other Thoughts: I purchased this to add external storage to my Windows Home Server. The card is very small, installs easily. The drivers for Server 2003 (on the supplied CD) installed without problem.

05-09-2011- Other Thoughts: I purchased one of these units a few months ago when I needed to expand the storage on my lab box at work. The need arose to increase the storage again, so I bought another one. I'd buy more of this gems if the need should arise. Just plug it in and go when running Windows Server 2008 R2 X64.

03-20-2013- Pros: I have some old IDE HDD that I wanted to connect to my PC. This card works great to do it, just as expected. It is very easy to connect and install. Driver is included in package.
- Cons: None so far.
- Other Thoughts: I haven't tested raid features or SATA connections because I use SATA connectors on my motherboard.
