There probably is a way to recover it, because the same thing happend with my camera. I deleted some pictures I didn't want to, so I took it to my local camera store and they recovered it. So my best answer would be to try searching google for answers or programs or if you have a local computer shop, if some one there could help you.
Make sure your USB is not locked. Then: click and drag. Maybe it could be a matter of formatting. XP can work with FAT and NTFS formats; Vista can work with NTFS only. You should check it.
There really is no difference. Most USB drives use "Flash" memory which is why they are called flash drives. They are called USB drives for the connection type. They are also called jump drives as a brand name. Unless they have a hard drive in them, they are pretty much the same thing.
