It depends on whether you like a digital face on your clock or like a regular looking clock. The regular zen alarm clock is a prettier piece of "furniture" because it's triangle shaped and available in several different types of wood. And it has the Japanese symbol for "dream" on the front.
The digital version seems okay, but it has a digital display to it. It comes in a hardwood case with a chime but it's not as "pretty" as the regular clock.
From what I can tell both clocks still perform the same task - they wake you up by ringing a chime that is embedded in the base of the clock. So I think they perform the same way. They just look different.
