How to Plug Speakers Into a PC:

- Plug your speakers into each other. Most PC speakers have a detachable cord that goes between them. Powered speakers have a cord that plugs into the wall, which may be detachable as well
- Look at the sound card output in the back of your computer. If your soundcard has three colored jacks, plug into the green one. If it does not have colored jacks, plug into the one next to the jack with the picture of a microphone. Plug the power supply into a wall socket
- Turn on the speaker, turn up the speaker volume and play some music. If it doesn't work, continue to step 4
- Turn your volume up on whatever media player you are using. If the music still doesn't play, continue to step 5
- Go to the volume settings. If you are using windows, click Start Menu -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Entertainment -> Volume Control
- Adjust the volume settings. Use your mouse to drag the main "Volume Control" slider and the "Wave" slider all the way to the top. If either of them have the "Mute" box checked, uncheck it. Try the sound again
How to Buy Computer Speakers:
- Buy inexpensive, magnetically shielded, powered speakers if you want basic speakers for speech and computer sounds
- Choose a three-piece system with a ported sub-woofer if you want lots of boom to accompany action games
- Buy a two-way, two-piece, powered speaker system in sealed enclosures with no port if you want to use your CD drive as a boom box
- Decide where you'll put speakers, especially a sub-woofer, to determine which size speakers to consider
- Decide which external controls you want, such as on/off, volume, tone, mute and balance
- Bring a favorite CD along when you audition the speakers. Make sure the CD includes a wide range of sounds, from bass to treble

09-04-2010- Other Thoughts: I was looking around for a while for the least expensive and still good quality speakers on Dinodirect, and these seem to be them. These have great sound quality and get plenty loud. All you have to do is plug the power cord into the wall and the green audio cord into the computer and it works.
