How to Select A Speed Control for A Brushless Motor:

• When purchasing a motor and speed control for a r/c airplane, it may be difficult to find a speed control to meet the needs of the motor. These instructions will give you guidelines to use when selecting a speed control

• Find the maximum current rating in the specifications for the motor you have or are planning to buy. If maximum current isn't give, look for maximum power. With the power and voltage, Ohm's law can be used to find the current. Power divided by voltage will give you the current. Example: 400W / 11.1v (3cell lipo) = 36a
• Find the maximum current rating in the specifications for the speed control you are planning to buy
• Select a speed control that can handle more then the current of the motor. A good rule of thumb is to multiple the current of the motor by 25% then add that number to the current of the motor. Example: 36a x 25% = 9. 36a + 9 = 45a. Always use a speed control that over the new value. For example, if a 40a, 60a and 100a speed controls are the choices, select the 60a speed control

Tips & Warnings:

• Don't over prop your motor and speed control. Selecting the wrong prop can make the motor pull more current then the speed control can provide. Such cases can cause the speed control to cut off in flight or burn it up
