This is the 2nd aftermarket lens hood I have bought. For less than half the price of an OEM hood and does the same thing. Construction is equivalent to the Canon ones.

I purchased this lens hood cover and yes it's a good sturdy plastic material and it works great! i have a canon eos rebel t2i and it fits on there perfectly even with a filter lens intact.

When I buy a new lens, I look to Fotodiox for my hoods. They're usually every bit as well-made as the Canon-branded lens hoods, but a fraction of the price. This one is no exception. It screws in tight to the lens, has threads inside to allow your existing 52mm filters, and doesn't cast any noticeable shadows on your shots. There's also enough room around the edges for your existing side-pinch lens cap. Looks great, does its job, doesn't get in the way, and only costs a few bucks.

I've used lens hoods on all of my lens since I first started doing pro photography almost 30 years ago. I feel the hoods protect the front of the lens.

After using my lens on vacation and having a difficult time keeping sun flare off the lens, I finally decided to buy this product. Just completed doing an outdoor wedding and the sun was all over the place, and this hood did exactly what is supposed to do. Didn't ruin one shot because of sun flares. Easy to use and easy to store when not in use.

It has good construction, although sometimes it can be a little difficult to take on/off the camera. Better that than coming lose. <br/>Would recommend.
