Works perfectly in my BB Curve. The old trackball was stained from a a broken compact in my makeup bag, and after I tried to clean it up, the trackball would stick once in a while. With the replacement it is like new! The replacement, at least to me, looks *exactly* like the old trackball. I'm thinking about buying another one to have on hand in case I need it!

After fighting my old trackball (more than a year old), I was really looking forward to smooth operations again. Unfortunately, the new one is very sticky. I still don't understand how I can move the trackball in one direction while the cursor moves in the opposite direction!

After reading about replacing the trackball to my Curve I found that AT&T would not simply replace it - they would require it to be sent in. I looked on dinodirect for a replacement trackball. Great price for 2 trackballs. I ordered with normal shipping on a Thursday and it was in my mailbox on Monday. Popped it in and it worked better than before! So amazed! Highly recommend purchasing even if your trackball is fine - so you are prepared in case you break it while cleaning.

My journey to fixing my Blackberry 8100 trackball started with looking online for repair services. The first I found charged around $70, so I went to the T-Mobile store to see if they could assist. They directed me to Customer Care phone support, and after being on hold for about 15 minutes, the answer was, "It's not under warrantee, you don't have insurance, sorry." I then started looking again for online fixes. This part sells at a range between $5 and $50, installation not included. I was pleased that I was able to get such a small part, at such a great price, from this seller. Without any resources or "how to" I found that this was an easy fix, just dropping the trackball into the hole, and gently clicking the silver ring cover (the side w/o prongs towards the LCD), and voila, good as new!

I dropped my blackberry, and the trackball and housing fell out and would not work when replaced. I went to a blackberry authorized repair center, which quoted my $100 to fix it. I wanted to try and fix it myself, so I purchased a trackball kit on Dinodirect, and within 2 weeks, it arrived. I opened it, popped it in, and my device was working within one minute, literally.

My trackball on my 8100 pearl stopped scrolling up. I tried pulling it out and cleaning it, to no avail. I was a little suspicious whether this would fix the problem, but it did. It looks and fits just like OEM. It was pretty easy to install: just pry under the silver ring around the trackball, and the ring pops out. Then pry the smaller silver ring out, and then pop the trackball assembly out and pop the new one in. Not for those that are very technologically faint of heart -- but no harder than, say, adding memory to a computer. I am just glad I did not have to get a whole new blackberry to fix the problem.

I use my BlackBerry 7130 A LOT (probably over 4 hours a day), so I burn through a new track ball every few months or so. For the cost of replacement track balls it isn't worth wasting your time cleaning and reinserting old ones. AT&T will actually replace these for you as part of the limited warranty, but since mine is corporate issued it would take a decent effort to get the IT deparment to get it fixed - I can't be without a phone for a few days while that happens, so I just replace the trackball myself.
