I and my professional barbecue team partners have been using three of these units (same model)for a year and a half, with no problems and usage of an average of 45 events per year/40 tests per event. Just use average, sensible care and they work well. I suspect that some of the users who rate these poorly do not have experience and the sense to utilize them the way they are intended. A fine product for the money. Even if I got a year out of each of them, they would be an accurate bargain.

:I bought my thermometer about a year ago and have used it to cook beef and chicken to perfection. No more dry meat whether it is in the oven or in a smoker or grill. Then I tried it to make fudge. Best fudge I've ever made and the temperatures were very accurate.

I am a big fan of probe thermometers, and I have owned and ruined several of them; each a different brand. It is the most accurate and can withstand high heat - best on the market in this price range. I have owned this thermometer for over a year now, and in this time it has: <br/>1. Been rained on at least 5 times. <br/>2. Dropped in our pool. <br/>3. Been hidden in our sandbox. <br/>4. Been dropped on hot coals and backing partially melted. <br/>Each time this thermometer has miraculously come back to life and worked perfectly! The original battery is still going.

After much research into these devices, I decided to purchase this brand for my husband as a gift. I chose this brand since it had a higher temperature range than that of the other brands available.

A very nice outdoor digital thermometer, very simple to use, to read and pretty accurate for a thermometer of this price; at least it is more accurate than the local weather company. Made in China, try to don't drop it. I use it in my Japanese soaking tub to set the temp and it is accurate.

Large Dial Makes it Easy to Read the Temp - This thermometer is great in that I can read the dial from where I placed it towards the back of the refrigerator. We also bought one for the freezer. They both work well and were a good buy, but the main thing to us was that we can see the temp without having to put on our "over-40 eye glasses" And that's what it is all about - being able to read the temp so you can adjust accordingly.

This indoor/outdoor thermometer is good. It replaced a smaller one I had, which worked fine, but was small, and I had to get very close to read the numbers. The Timex thermometer is about the size of an I-phone and the numbers are large enough that I can see them from the doorway. I put it in the kitchen window. I like it so much, I'm going to order one for a friend.

This product works great on day to day cooking and grilling. Now our steaks are done to medium rare every time and the chicken is no longer dried out (I kind of miss that part).
