This product works great; I have used it many times to start campfires in the wilderness. Regardless of conditions, this will never let you down, even if submerged in water, just dry it off, and it works. The only downfall is that you will need to scrape off a lot of magnesium for it to do any good. So, if you don't have a lot of time to spend scraping, you're better off with waterproof matches. But keep this in your pack just in case.

After you remove the coating, it's pretty easy to use, just shave some magnesium off and strike! Simple and Easy to use.

This is a great, very inexpensive, extremely light weight, tried and true fire starting tool for emergencies. I have about five of them in total taking up permanent residence in my parka, hiking Backpack, emergency kits, and gun bag. This way I never forget to take one with me.

This is one of the best fire starters you can carry. Shaving the magnesium then scraping the metal match insert with your knife will certainly work, but it will also dull your knife in short order. It is a much better idea to attach a piece of a hacksaw blade to it for this purpose. It works as well and lets you save your knife for its intended purpose - cutting. Even if you have no or hacksaw blade (or knife), a sharp piece of broken glass will let you shower sparks from the insert.

Pros:
Nice design to use one handed and easy to use but cheaply made with cheap materials
Cons:
Tried it about 10 times and the flint broke off. Been trying for ages to get refund from Dino, not very good customer service. Been waiting now for 2 weeks since contacting them and sending photo of the broken flint. Cheaply made!
Other Thoughts:
Things that aren't so great about it are that it is made from cheap plastic and broke so easily.

At first use, it will take some scraping to clear the black oxidation. Once you're through the oxide layer, firm pressure and a quick wrist will generate lots of very bright sparks.

I tried this magnesium fire starting tool. It works perfectly fine as described and were able to light up fine fibers (cotton, moss, dried grass) and paper without a problem.

I received this today, and it works great. I would suggest using the back (non-serrated) edge of the steel to shave the magnesium and the serrated edge for striking the flint. The magnesium block and flint both have some kind of coating, so the first time you use it it'll take a few extra tries. I've seen these selling for double or triple the price and people were happy to pay it, so this is an excellent deal!

I always worried about the striker hitting the stove by mistake and knocking it over and spilling the alcohol out. The Sparkie totally solves the problem! Now I can just extend the flint, hold it over the stove and press the flint in with my index finger. Much easier and safer! The sparks are great, like your other two products which I've tried.

I got the multicam looking cord, and it looks exactly like it does here. This is legitimate 550lb cord that holds plenty of weight, although I haven't tried the full weight limit on it yet, but looks the same as all my army issue cord.

They are light weight, and the sand was a little hard, but I definitely would not buy them again.
