Cons:as always with electricall boards they are very fagile so take care when installing
Other Thoughts:i used this with my dvd-rw and it works extreamly well its a must for anyone with a sata motherboard and older had drives or dvd/cd drives
Other Thoughts:So the item is fine, with the potential limitation indicated. And as others have noted, it is relatively flimsy; so attach the cables to the adapter first, then the adapter to the back of the drive.
Pros:Beautifully made, great quality control and wonderful product! Works great with an older 200GB harddrive!
Cons:None really, unless you don't know how to use the jumpers to switch operating mode, but it comes in the instructions as well, so its pretty simple to use!
Other Thoughts:Easy installation, and no drivers needed.
Other Thoughts:I needed to reload XP on my computer but I have an old windows XP disk that doesn't recognize the SATA interface on my motherboard. I just hooked my sata drive up to the IDE part of the board then loaded windows onto the drive. Once I did so I unplugged the adapter and mounted the drive in it's SATA slot and I was up and running. Next time my system gets nailed with a virus or gets massively bogged down, I can just reload the image and 30 minutes later I'm back to the fresh install again.
<br/>Then I used an open source program called clonezilla to make a backup of my hard drive so I won't have to go through this again. So I only needed it for a short time but the adapter was just what I needed.
