Rugged, back lit, holds max temp. I've used it on everything from engines to HVAC to windows to milk for my baby. I use it several times a day every day.

A switch inside the battery compartment (9volt) allows you to switch off the laser sight, which will prolong battery life. My use does not require the aim of the laser so it is VERY nice. Seems quite accurate.

I built a wood fired brick oven and did not know how to check interior temperature. This allowed me to get a temperature and amaze my friends. A two-fer!!!

This product works great on day to day cooking and grilling. Now our steaks are done to medium rare every time and the chicken is no longer dried out (I kind of miss that part).
