• The still pictures that can be gotten from the videos are very good. But unless the camera is held very steady, the action seems jerky. Maybe that is the problem of a high shutter speed. If one examines regular movie frames, they are quite blurred if there is any action going on. A slower shutter speed makes for much smoother action shots, but that is not an option with the Flip camcorder. Use a tripod, or at least pay attention to being very steady if you want good movies. Avoid panning shots - let the subject do the moving rather than you moving the camera.

• This is a great camera which is extremely easy to use. The software is also really easy to use but very limited in what you can do. The software only takes video clips and adds them together to make a movie. You can add photos and entire MP3's, but that is it. You cannot add any special effects or play with timing or volumes. I need to find a better software to edit and create my movies.

• This product is top notch in every way. The video that it takes is crystal clear and despite what some say, it takes great video in low light. Also don't be fooled by the low mega pixels, this device takes excellent still photos. If you know anything about still photography then you should know that the quality of your photos is not totally dependent on the camcorder.

• I just came back from family vacation from sunny Mexico, connected camcorder via HDMI cable to my HDTV, and I was stunned. Picture quality from this camcorder was amassing and comparable to if not better then ray DVD. Outdoors shoots were comparable to professionally done movies, color were vibrant and rich, but not over saturated. They were natural, and accurate.

• I think people that rate the Flip negatively need to realize its target audience. I mean, if you want lots of features and professional quality, you shouldn't even be looking at the Flip. Then lug the thing around. But, if you want a simple to use, good quality camcorder, with very easy to use software, then buy this. I did, for my wife, and she loves it. Where as our nice Sony camcorder just sits in the closet, she will actually carry this Flip around with her.

• The picture quality for this camcorder is superb. I was very, very pleased with the product. It also does well under low light conditions and you can purchase a video dc light (cheap) to attach to the top of camcorder for low light and night shots. It does not have a built in light, but this does not seem to effect the image quality.
  I bought it to film and pop out the DVD to play on the DVD player. I can't say much about the software since I probably won't ever use it, but if you are looking for high-quality camcorder just for filming, I rate this one Number 1 !!!

• This camera takes the best still pictures of any mini-dv I have owned yet !! Low transport noise and the joystick rocks . You basically just open the box and shoot . As with any camera you should always adjust your own white balance .It fits in the palm of your hand and comes with a remote and a mic ! No battery complaints as of yet . For the price get it !!

• If you want high quality, high definition, cinema mode videos for editing, this camcorder does it all....as long as you can justify the relatively high price. I've had the DV-136 since April 1, 2009, and so far I think it's great. This camera uses miniDV tapes instead of the newer technologies of direct to DVD, hard drive, or flash memory. However, the advantage of miniDV is that it records pure video with no compression, so you get the highest quality image for editing. The other methods use some compression method that loses some original quality.
  
  I actually prefer the miniDV tapes because it also stores and information like the time and date. I backup all my videos to DVD because it's easier to watch that way. I just started doing a little video editing using Sony Vegas software....and that seems to be a nice software package. The final video on the resulting DVD looks great.

I have tried 4 other camcorders in this same price range in the past couple of months and not one of them has come close to the quality of video that this one produces.

There have been many events captured in HD - recitals, ball games, birthdays, etc. I have been able to use cheap DVD's (available here at Amazon). It records in HD. Recorded media is encoded in AVCHD and can be played directly using a bluray player.

• my friend bought an older model similar to this one for about $50. and we were both impressed with the camcorder quality alone. Not mention all the other things it does. so when he told me about this one being on sale, i jumped on it. even better than his. and actual pvr that you can plug into your tv outs to record your favorite tv shows. will handle up to a 2gig sd card, gives you about 1.5 hours of record time in high quality. it is cool.

• I got this camcorder as a birthday present because I had been asking for one for a convention in the fall. It arrived as they told since I received it and I'm already using it non-stop! I love this camcorder, it's easy to use and fits perfectly in my hand. The video editing software is good yet confusing, so I recommend using what software you use now, since the program it comes with makes the audio timing off with the video. I use Windows Movie maker and it works perfectly well. Uploading the Videos and pictures is easy and the quality is very good, Amazing to my eyes. I look forward to using this more and you will also need to buy a flashcard because this camcorder doesn't come with one. Way worth the price and it should cost more than it does!

• This is a great buy. I was hopefull when I bought this, and I was not let down. It takes great movies in the bright sunlight. It also does a good job of taking movies in lower light situations indoors. In addition, this camcorder takes high quality still pictures (which breaks the stereotype that multi-functional units short change you on one or the other features)and does a great job doing so. My test for the video quality was set on VGA quality, during the day. I played them back on a 55 inch TV and the picture was great, every bit as good if not better than a VHS tape. The manual is very detailed. It is necessary to follow the manual to the letter when installing the software. The software is fair, but I prefer to edit my pictures with Microsoft picture it. I can't say enough good things about this item. The price, options, and quality are unbeatable. When you want to transfer movies off of the camera onto your computer you have to switch the camera to disk mode, it is a easy process but not spelled out in the manual. Hooking the camcorder up to the TV is easy also, hook up the video and sound cable to the A/V in and the other side into the camcorder change the input setting on your TV and your in business.

• What's great about it: Zoom quality, ease in connecting to TV, preview ability, compact size, etc . What's not so great: Size of print in User's Manual "It is relatively easy to use, and takes great video. I took both indoor and outdoor video and was very impressed with the results when we played it back from the camera on a 5 yr old 32" TV. Some key points to remember: 1. Read the manual. 2. A stable tripod is beneficial anytime you take high zoom or low light photos or videos. 3. Even our naked eyes do not capture true color in low light situations. 4. Take some practice video before you try to take videos of important events. 5. Zoom in and out and pan SLOWLY as your movements will multiply any other movement in the video. I was amused that some of the reviews for one color of the same camera were better than for the other colors of the same camera. I bought a blue one but I tend to think they all perform the same. I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone.

• Great camcorder so far. You will want to turn off the image stabilizer feature if you ever pan with the camera. If image stabilizer is on you get a lot of image pause and jerk when you move. If want to take standard definition videos and burn them easily to DVD at will, this the one to buy. I love that it has flash memory as I can easily carry extra cards and swap them out as needed. It didn't take too long to charge and has a great battery life. The picture quality is great, mic picks up sounds well and the zoom is fantastic. I love how small and lightweight it is. The price is good too. I'm very happy with this camcorder.

• Great quality shots both in light and dark situations. When I first started using mine I thought the quality was just okay. Then I realized that it was set on SP. When I changed the setting to HQ, wow, what a difference. I don't get all the bad reviews on the picture quality. I can't imagine any other SD camera having any better picture. It's SD. If you want perfection, spend the extra money on an HD camera. Also, the videos transfer to your computer easily. The battery last longer than I thought about 90 minutes. Would buy it again in a second.

• We needed this camcorder for a family reunion. We are very satisfied with our pick. Very easy to learn and took very good video. We have a very good recording of the happenings at our reunion. It had enough internal memory that we were able to get an evening and the following day recorded. It is the a dream came true for me. A great camera for a great price.

• I haven't used this a whole lot yet, but it is so easy to use. I was able to start using it right out of the box after charging the battery. Very clear images and nice digital zoom. The perfect camcorder for a family and It is the coolest feature is the zoom. You can zoom miles ahead of you. The price is nominal with most customers able to purchase it.

• Suprisingly Amazing video from this little powerhouse. For quick on the go snip-its of video or all those times you said Boy I wish I had a video camera right now well this is the one for you. Great to catch all those unexpected life's memorable moments at the drop of a hat. The quality of the video is very good. The zoom feature is not as advanced as the bigger clunkier video cameras but really decent. The plug and play feature to transfer your videos to your computer couldn't be easier. The software that comes on the camera itself is so easy to edit and share anybody can do it. This is one great little video camera and well worth the money to have one at your finger tips to catch those special moments.

• I've had this camcorder for a month or so now and I've been really happy with this camcorder. I use this camcorder to take pictures of my wife and kid occasionally. The video quality is acceptable when there's sufficient light, at low light the video gets grainy but there's a built in light that can be turn on (manually or automatically). You can take snapshots in the middle of recording a video, the quality is ok for facebook but it you're looking for high quality you should get a digital camera. It has no built in memory and downloading to PC is very easy, just insert the SD card and grab the AVI files, I haven't had any problems with the encoding.

• This little underwater camera is a great deal for the price. It's 6 mp, not just the 5 listed in the description and seems very sturdy. It is easy to use and has a lot of features. Not good for deep diving, but great for shallow diving and snorkeling. I've shot a lot of photos with it already and they are pretty good quality.

• Overall the DV-136 is a great camera, I've had it for nearly 3 months and it has been a wonderful investment. I had a few prints made at the local camera shop and I was a bit nervous to see the outcome--but to my surprise they all turned out great. I even used some of the prints taken to send in for modeling jobs and the quality was as good as any other camera that cost triple the price. There are a couple of things that I dislike--I don't like having to make sure that my fingers are clear of the flash and the fact that there isn't a lens cover. I've found that a plastic cap from a small bottled water does the trick. Hope this is helpful.

• A very compact, neat little swiss army knife of a camera.
  Does good videos in day light. Night shots either video or still shots - Not at all good. When would I use it? I would throw one in my (shirt) pocket, and shoot those shots when I didn't take my expensive rather cumbersome camcorder. I like its audio, very nice LCD, and a well built body. For serious shots, I would still use my Casio or Olympus Camedia digital cameras and a Canon Optura 600 or similar.
  For the price, form, and function, this little camera does admirably.

• I bought this camcorder to record my daughter growing up and so far I have been extremely pleased with the results. Can save the videos to my computer very easily and haven't had the same problem as some of the other reviewers.

• Bought one of these for my brother and his wife and after seeing how well it works I think I'll get one for myself. you can bring it along most anywhere without a fuss. And when it comes to memorable moments, any shot is better than no shot, right? I think I'll keep one of these tucked away in a pocket from now on. A steal for this price.
