I bought this Digital Camera Lens Hood for Canon's lens, one incredible lens.
Years ago I went to a lecture by Ernst Wilde, MR. Hasseblad himself, where he showed the difference that a lens hood would make on a Hasseblad lens. Since then I have always used them faithfully on every lens I own. The longer the lens, the more efective the lens hood can be if it is specifically designed for that lens. This is the hood Canon has for their medium telephoto lenses, the 85f1.8, 100usm macro, and 135mmf2.8 lenses. The hood will protect your lens from dust, scratches, damage, while at the same time preserving the maximum contrast your lens can deliver. This differs from a filter, that will take away from the inherit lens sharpness and contrast. A analogy is wearing a baseball cap which will improve your vision and protect your eyes from cataracts, while not distorting your vision like sunglasses will.

Every lens needs a lens hood. You'll end up wishing you had it later anyway. It's great for keeping out the sunflare, and protecting your lens from bumps and bruises, as well as kids fingers and rain drops.

There's not much to say. The hood does its job. It's easy to mount/unmount and can be mounted in reverse.

Great hood does what its supposed to do, cut flare and protect lense. It's not a screw on, but latches fairly easy and is sturdy when latched on. Since it latches on it does spin around the lense, but its nothing to complain about, it still feels very sturdy when on. Overall very happy with the purchase.

It's basically as advertised - cheap, lightweight; but stiff at first, and not necessarily the most practical to put on every time.

I've used lens hoods on all of my lens since I first started doing pro photography almost 30 years ago. I feel the hoods protect the front of the lens.

After using my lens on vacation and having a difficult time keeping sun flare off the lens, I finally decided to buy this product. Just completed doing an outdoor wedding and the sun was all over the place, and this hood did exactly what is supposed to do. Didn't ruin one shot because of sun flares. Easy to use and easy to store when not in use.

It has good construction, although sometimes it can be a little difficult to take on/off the camera. Better that than coming lose.
Would recommend.
