- Other Thoughts: My husband inherited a laptop that worked well except that the CD drive was broken. To replace the drive internally would have been at least $60-80 dollars. As little as he uses it, an external drive made more sense. I didn't want to spend a lot, and this one fit the bill. He opened the box, used the included USB cable to plug it into his computer, and put a CD in it. That was it! It's just a little noisy (but not much, certainly tollerable) and is so slim he can put it in his cary bag and take it with him. If you're going to be hard on it, this one is probably a little lightweight, but for light use I definately reccomend it.

- Other Thoughts: When something's this inexpensive with this many favorable reviews, I usually give it a whirl. So far, my instincts have been good. Needed an external CD drive to install programs for both a laptop with a dead drive and a netbook with no drive. Upon opening the box, I plugged it in, Windows XP picked right up on it and I was up and running in about a minute. Could not have been easier. Don't know yet about longevity, but at this price who really cares?

- Other Thoughts: The unit itself is a good product. The problem is with the Netbook. The Gateway I purchased says at the beginning, "be sure to back up on a CD". <br/>This unit is not a RWR unit so cannot creat a backup disk with this unit. Netbooks should have the ability to backup on a USB thumb drive and I put the fault with the netbook companies and not with this unit. I you are buying this unit for a netbook beware! The unit itself works well.

- Other Thoughts: This is the best addition I can think of for a notebook computer. All my favorite programs can now be loaded into my notebook.
