I had the good fortune to purchase this recorder. It is a fine, altho complicated piece of equipment. After the initial learning curve, I am well pleased with it. I got the factory refurbished one. I would certainly recommend it to anyone interested in recording TV shows or tapes and DVDs.

Great match for HD flat screen TV using digital antenna, no analog/digital converter box and actually a stronger TV signal when viewing fringe signals via digital tuner in the recorder than by TV alone. Lots of HD storage space, good quality DVR for long term saving or conversion of old VHS tape format to DVD format. Love the TIVO like live record and playback feature.

I've had it a month. So far it's a great machine. I had one of the first Sattelite TV DVRs and always loved the convenience. But to save money we turned off the Satt service. I'm amazed at the BETTER Digital Picture we get over the air! Easy to program. Image Quality is great. It switches channels fairly quickly. Some Dig tuners really take a long time. I'm so glad to be done with DVDs that I need to label and keep track of. And to be able to program multiple shows and channels. I'm really pleased. Whats not to like? I wish the remote had a volume control for the TV. The remote is large. But that makes it harder to loose and easier to see individual buttons.

The units are great. Wished they booted faster. We have 4 now. Everyone loves being able to record their favorite shows, but also be able to share with the other units as well. The Netflix, Hulu +, and Amazon movie streaming is AWESOME!!!!!!

Our cable provider had some trouble getting the unit sync'd with the HD decoder (not a TiVo problem), but once that was solved, the TiVo has been great!

I'm free of cable and Tivo has allowed me to do this. With Tivo I can still get many of my TV shows off antenna with it's built in dual ATSC tuners, but in order to cut cable out my life, I still needed to get some of my reality shows a like on History and Discovery Channels. Tivo made solving that problem easy by adding Netflix and Amazon Video to their lineup. Now I get all my shows at less then half the cost of cable every month. If customer support was better I would have given it five stars.
