This pen is fantastic. It isn't a luxury writing instrument; it's a practical pen. If you're new to fountain pens, I recommend this one. It writes well and feels good in your hand. It's not made to sit on display; it's designed to be used. I have other (expensive) fountain pens that never leave my desk, but I'm not afraid to take this one with me out of the office. It writes just as well as the expensive pens, but I don't have to worry about taking out a loan if I need to replace it for any reason. I was afraid it would be inferior to my other pens, but I was wrong. Now, I'm just sorry I waited so long to buy it.

This pen doesn't work wonders, but it is a joy to write with and my writing comes out beautifully. As a fountain pen newbie, I took to it immediately and my writing instantly became a little freer and relaxed. Good ballpoint pens can be found for cheaper, but this the LAMY Safari is so much fun to use.

Bought the charcoal safari. I have to say that, with its elegant built and feel, it's definitely hard to tell this pen is only $25! It feels very natural when holding, and the nib is extremely smooth even in the first time writing. Highly recommend this pen!

I received this fountain pen as a gift four years ago, and I have used it every single day since. It writes very smoothly and feels comfortable in my hand. I usually like heavier pens, but I have gotten used to the Safari's lightweight plastic. <br/>I had two fancier pens before this one -- a Caran d'Arche and a Parker -- but both were stolen. The Safari looks much simpler, and hasn't (yet!) attracted thieves. And if it did? It's inexpensive enough to replace without a second thought. I love this pen.

I generally use very fine fountain pens but wanted to try some exotic colored inks and didn't want to risk damaging my good pens. So I bought this Lamy. It's a little scratchy but is overall fine, and I get to play with Noodler's inks. It doesn't leak and is very lightweight.
