If you photograph outdoors, you need to have this in your kit along with the UV filter. Its original canon and priced just right.

Fits very well, but one star off for the very high price. Still, I'd rather have an expensive hood that fits well than a cheap hood that falls off.

Canon genuine lens hoods are made from great quality plastic with a velvet material inside the hood, however, the plastic used is very easy to scratch compared to all the other range of products supplied by Canon. I always use the hood as I see it as a cheap way to protect the front of your lens. It doesn't matter if the lens hood is turned inwards or outwards , as when you rest the camera on a table, the hood will support and protect the lens against the surface it is rested on.

After using my lens on vacation and having a difficult time keeping sun flare off the lens, I finally decided to buy this product. Just completed doing an outdoor wedding and the sun was all over the place, and this hood did exactly what is supposed to do. Didn't ruin one shot because of sun flares. Easy to use and easy to store when not in use.

I purchased this Camera Lens Hood cover and yes it's a good sturdy plastic material and it works great! i have a canon eos rebel t2i and it fits on there perfectly even with a filter lens intact.
