Other Thoughts:Bought this product to add SATA drives to a FreeNAS NAS. Was able to install card into a Dell Precision Tower with FreeNas already installed. I plugged in the drives, and at boot time all the drives were found. No need to install special drivers... FreeNAS (which is FreeBSD based) had what was needed. I am not using the RAID capability so I cannot comment on that -- otherwise I'm fully satisfied with this product
Other Thoughts:This is a good product for basic RAID needs. It recognized all drives quickly and transfer rates are acceptable. The price is right for four additional SATA slots. It has a low profile and fits comfortably between a massive GPU and PCI wireless card. The software is terrible. I could see a non-technically minded person would have trouble with installation. I run Win 7 and had to manually dig to find the appropriate drivers. That's a minor complaint compared to the balance of the product.
Other Thoughts:This card works great and expands the number of SATA drives that I can put into my PC. It was easy to install and works like a champ. Arrived quickly, packed well. Couldn't ask for more.
Other Thoughts:I'm only using this card to add four new SATA DVD burners to my system, so I can't testify to the abilities of its RAID function. However, for what I'm using it for, it's working perfectly. Sets up easily in my Win 7 64 bit system. I downloaded the latest drivers off the company's website and they installed without a hitch.
Other Thoughts:I have a home server with an ABit motherboard with two onboard SATA I controllers. However, SATA II drives would not work. Installing this card was the easiest and least expensive way to upgrade to SATA II. In addition, the four controllers allows for easy future expansion of storage.
