There are three types of batteries used in Acer laptops. These are NiCad, NiMH, and Lithium-Ion. These all have different properties and cannot be used in place of one another. Check your specifications to find out which battery you need for your specific laptop.
Yes. Lower temperatures slow down the self-discharge (loss of charge while disconnected) and aging process of the elements within your battery. Therefore it follows that higher temperatures shorten the life of your battery. Leaving your battery connected while on AC power causes the internal temperature of the battery to rise. Removing your battery and storing it in a cool, dry place will help to slow the aging process. Keeping your notebook in a hot environment is also detrimental to your battery.
Don't run any processor intensive programs. Anyway use it until it completely runs out, then when your laptop shuts off unplug it, then take out the battery ( should be easy with a little latch etc. ). Then leave it out for a few hours and place it back in, then fully charge the battery without turning the computer back on, by plugging the AC in when the battery is snapped back in place.
