How to Download Using a USB Data Cable:

- Several ways exist to download files and transfer them to a device, such as a cell phone or media player. The same is true when you want photos or other files downloaded to your computer from a portable device, such as a camera or phone. While options include Bluetooth transfer and transfer via an external memory card, downloading and transferring files via a USB data cable remains an effective method, because it's relatively fast and simple.
- Download Files to a Device

- Connect your cell phone or other portable device to your computer via a USB data cable. Once connected with a USB cable, your computer should install the USB drivers and recognize the device. If not, disconnect and go to the device manufacturer's website to look for driver downloads.
- Open the window where the downloaded files are saved on your computer. Size the window so it only takes up half your screen.
- Open the window that displays your connected device's files. Size it to fill half the screen, so the windows are side by side.
- Drag and drop the downloaded files into the appropriate device folders. For example, ringtones may have their own folder, and songs may go into a folder called "My Music." If you're moving songs you've downloaded to a program such as Windows Media Player, drag to the far-right window and "Sync" with your device. You may have to click "Refresh Devices" if yours is not recognized.
- Disconnect your device from your computer. In the lower right taskbar, click on the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon. Once you select "Remove device," your computer will tell you when it's safe to disconnect.

- Download Files to a Computer
- Connect your device to your computer via the USB data cable. If a window pops up, click on "Open Folder to View Files." Alternately, go to "My Computer" and click on the drive where the device is connected; it may be recognized as a removable disk. Size the window so it only takes up half your screen.
- Open the folder where you want to save the files on your computer. Size it to fill half the screen so the windows are side by side.
- Drag and drop the files you want to save to your computer.
- Disconnect your device from your computer by selecting the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon.

12-24-2010- Pros: Sure beats paying 20$+ for an Ipod/Iphone charger when this does the same thing :)
- Cons: You cant use this with the USB to wall plug
- Other Thoughts: Its plug and play...what can be easier! You can use it to charge your Iphone or Ipod or just to transfer data from Itunes!

12-02-2010- Other Thoughts: I'm still amazed at how good this product is. I purchased it because I wanted to keep one in the car as a spare. It has become the main one for me. It does feel cheep on your hands probably because it is very light. However, that's a false impression since it's very sturdy and reliable. I will order one for my wife as well. I highly recommend it.

05-01-2010- Pros: The price was fantastic so i bought two of these, and have not been disapointed with either. One lives in the glovebox of my car, attached to a wall adaptor - ready for when my iphone goes flat when I am out and about! I love that it has a retractable cord because it is the cord that has been a problem on my 'brand' versions.
- Cons: Sometimes I have to detach and re-connect to get it to sync, but most times it works immediately.
- Other Thoughts: Great cheap version of a very expensive apple accessory. I have bought a few of the 'real' ones from the apple shop and they have been chewed by the dog, or slammed in doors etc. This is a great way of saving money and getting an appliance that works just as well

02-11-2010- Other Thoughts: This kit is one that no iPod user should be without. The pieces are well constructed, and the wall charger beats Apple's own overpriced model. Also reasonably priced. I am very satisfied with this product. I was impressed enough to come and write this review -- perhaps you will be too.

02-09-2010- Other Thoughts: Works very well. Does it's job: syncs the iPod. It's also nice that the cord retracts so there's not a lot of cord to deal with when your not using it. Can't beat the price. A sync cord at a local retail shop could set you back $15-$20. Buy this one, or like I did: buy several.

02-09-2010- Other Thoughts: The reviews said mostly positive things about it, but there are times when I speculate the validity of others ill advised opinions. That being said, this product broke my expectations. The retract feature works much better than I ever thought it would. I have had retractable ethernet cables before that were very cheaply made, resulting in a broken cable and increased latency. This product, on the other hand, is very simply made but with quality components. The retract feature works seemingly flawless. In addition, I had no problems charging or using data transfer. It connected and transferred flawlessly.

01-27-2010- Other Thoughts: This cable works both for syncing (USB 1.1 and 2.0) and for charging your iPod. It can be used to connect the iPod directly to a computer or to any iPod peripherals (such as iPod power adapters/chargers) that use a USB connector. The build quality is pretty solid, they fit well and connect smoothly, no forcing or wiggling required to insert them. I've had no problems with data integrity or transfer speeds using this cable. <br/>I have used mine daily for the last 6 months (extending/retracting it several times a day) and it's seen a fair amount of travel, and it's still like new. It's very convenient and cuts down the tangle for travel.

01-25-2010- Other Thoughts: My cat turned the stock iPhone cord into swiss cheese, rendering it useless. Rather than buy him just another $20 chewtoy, I wanted something that was black (he never touched any other black cord in the house) and would retract (just in case he developed a taste for black). This cord is PERFECT! It doesn't feel cheap at all like other retractable cords you find-- it's really well-made. It works F L A W L E S S L Y with the iPhone (I have the 3GS, specifically).
