How to Convert XBox Controller to USB:
- On the Xbox Controller wire, cut the Xbox connector end, about 1 to 2 centimeters from the controller's joiner. Cut the USB cable, opposite of the male end. The male end is the end that connects into computer; be sure not to cut that end.
- Cut back the cable jacket, on both the USB cable and the Xbox controller, with a utility razor or sharp scissors. This will expose the wires within the cables.
- The Microsoft Xbox Controller cable has five wires: red, white, green, black and yellow. The USB cable has four: red, white, green and black. Match each color with each other on the Xbox controller and the UBS cable. Connect the wires at the end of each, so the ends are touching.
- You can twist and tape them together with electrical tape, or you can solder them together. The yellow wire is not needed as it for the Xbox console to read the controller.
- The controller is now ready to be plugged into the computer. The computer will read the device and install it as an "unknown device." If needed, you can download XBCD drivers for the controller at websites
Tips & Warnings:
- When cutting the USB cable, make sure to leave enough wire to comfortably play once connected to the computer.

I really feel Microsoft has done a great job with this pad. After the original XBox controller that felt like it was made backwards this one feels great. The buttons are placed right and it fits well in your hands. Generally I would say it's a toss up between the PS3 and 360 control. They both do the job right. The trigger buttons feel placed well and even the analog sticks are in a good place. This paddle also gets excellent range without loosing it's signal. My only qualm is personal. My experience after playing long hours is that right hand gets a little tight from gripping the control pad. I am sure most people feel just fine gripping this pad. Make sure you get a rechargable batterey pack so you don't spend a fortune on batteries. This pad is obviously a must have for anyone with a 360

If you've got an XBox 360, you really need to get your hand on one or two wireless controllers. These controllers are GREAT for keeping your gaming area free of clutter. To start with, the controller is much smaller than the standard XBox controller was. For control items, you start with the standard blue X, yellow Y, red B and green A buttons. There are two thumbsticks, one on the upper left and one in the center right. There is also a directional (d-pad) in the lower left. Next, you have a pair of shoulder buttons at the "top" of the unit, up above the other buttons. You also have a pair of triggers below those shoulder buttons. Finally, you have a center X button that can be used to turn the console on and off, plus a "start" and "back" tiny white buttons on either side of it. Still, even if I have to plug the cables in every 10 hours or so to give it a juice boost, I still love wireless!! Highly recommended.

This controller worked perfectly out of the box, shipped with Energizer batteries included, and was an excellent value from Buy.com. I ve been gaming since 1987 (age 7, Atari 2600). My #1 suggestion to new gamers is to buy first party accessories. When I was younger I was motivated by price. I bought plenty of third party products and many of them failed after heavy use. My experience with first party products has been much better. If you can afford to buy console accessories from the console manufacturer, you should. The durability and quality are much better. *New wireless controllers need to be assigned to your 360 by pressing the assign button on the top of the controller and then pressing the assign button on the front of the console.

This was very easy to setup. After opening the box, I put in the batteries, plugged the adapter into the XBOX and within 10 seconds, it was working. No configuration needed. Played for about 2 hours with no problem. Shipping took about 14 days.

This is the best Xbox Controller ever invented, by far! First off right out of the gate its cordless. Add in the long life of the batteries and its already almost perfect. But that wasn't enough. This thing turns on/off the 360! Its got the rumble pack and its got a good feel to it. Of course lots of folks say they cost a lot, but I say its an investment. I've had mine since the 360 came out and no problems so far. Totally worth the $$. Besides the games cost more than the controller does and you buy games all the time right? The only reason i've found to buy more of these is so my friends can play with me!!

First off, yes, the Xbox's controller is big. After all, the most poweful game console on Earth was designed for adult gamers, not kids. (There are smaller third-party controllers available for $25-$40.) I have average-sized hands and I find holding the controller comfortable, even though it did get a bit getting used to. The buttons are responsive and well-positioned and beat the feel on both the Playstation 2 and GameCube. The controller's features are what makes a gamer drool. Every button you need to play any kind of game (ok, except those better played with a keyboard) is here. It's also cool that the memory card slots are on the controller, not the console itself, which makes it easy to swap memory cards as well as carry the card with your controller to your friend's house without fearing losing the memory. The controller cable also easily snaps off from the console, making it unlikely for an unaware spouse to trip on the cable (as it happened with my PS2). If you have an Xbox, be sure to get an extra controller. If you have small hands or are a teenager, check out third-party offerings first.

Before I got my Xbox I was a little worried about how the controller would feel, after reading a lot of bad reviews about it. Once I played with it though, I've decided that everyone who gave it a bad review is just biased(notice how everyone who bashes it follows it up with "buy a gamecube instead"). Yes, it is big. But it is the most comfortable controller I've ever used. PS used to be my favorite style (N64 is ok, but strange), but it is too small and makes your hands cramp after a while. The white and black buttons aren't hard to reach, and I don't think the x/y/a/b buttons are too close together. All it takes is a half hour of getting used to. The d-pad is good, not my style, but better than the sidewinder one. I would've liked a more nintendo or ps style one. That said, however, I haven't played a game that requires it yet, so who knows.

If you've got an Xbox 360, you need controllers. This black Game Controller is elegant, and matches the Elite 360. It also goes well with the white console too. The layout of the buttons on the Xbox 360 is amazing. It's perfect for many of the games that are on the 360. The rumble is effective, and the wireless capacity is wonderful. The only beef I have, is that I've had two controllers that become loose on the left analog stick, and they began to drag the cursor when not touched. The Xbox Warranty I had from the console replaced them free of charge. Luckily I had extra controllers to get me by in the week it took to replace it. When matched with the rechargable battery pack, they give you lots of gaming time between charges.

I've owned the Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows device for about a week, and the only thing I am unhappy about is that I waited so long to buy this controller. Combined with Xpadder, a free program that lets you emulate key presses and mouse movements directly from the controller (google the program), the 360 controller has become a great way to websurf, play games (e.g. Gears of War, Resident Evil 4), and even control media applications such as Cyberlink PowerDVD. If you don't want to bother programming the Xpadder software yourself, you can download predefined profiles for each of your programs and modify them as you see fit. The range of the controller is sufficient for me, but I have a pretty small apartment :-) I do not know how long the batteries will last and I am considering getting some kind of rechargeable setup. I've run this controller on both Windows XP and Windows Vista without any bugs or other problems. Overall, I rate this product a 4.5/5.0 stars. The only modification I would make to the controller is to disable it's 'auto-off' feature that shuts down the controller automatically after around 10 - 15 minutes of disuse. When you are reading a web page for a long period of time or watching a movie, having to hit the 'on' button on the center of the pad before you can use the controller again is a minor annoyance. However, for most people who will use this controller primarily for gaming, this is not a problem at all and is instead a battery preserving feature, thus the deduction of only 0.5 stars.
