How to Make a Cheap USB Powered Fan:

• Strip 1/2-inch of the insulation from the two wires of an old computer fan
• Cut off one end of an old USB cable, making sure there is still one USB connector attached to the other end. Strip the insulation off the cut end of the cable to expose about three inches of the wires. Cut off two of the wires flush with the insulation, leaving the red and black wires intact
• Remove about ½- inch of insulation from the USB cable's red and black wires
• Twist the wires from the fan and the cable together, red to red and black to black. Wrap tape around each connection so the red bare wires don't come in contact with the black bare wires. Wrap the wire connections separately, and then use more electrical tape and wrap both sets of wires together for added strength and safety
• Form an adjustable stand for the fan by making a squared off U out of the stiff wire. Run one leg of the stiff wire through each of the bottom screw holes in the fan. Push enough wire through each side to bring each leg of the wire up the front side of the fan and back through the top screw hole. Bend the wire ends down where they protrude through the back of each top screw hole to secure them
• Set the fan so it's facing you and push back on the top of the fan to bend the wire stand back, angling the fan up toward your face
• Plug the USB cable into the USB port in your computer, sit back and enjoy the cooling breeze
