How to Transfer Data to External Hard Drive From Xbox 360

The Xbox 360 console has a removable hard drive that can be swapped out with a larger one if you run out of space and need more room for extra downloaded content or saved game files. You can transfer all of the data from the original hard drive to the new hard drive externally without having to use a second console. All new 120 gigabyte hard drives come with a transfer kit, but if you acquired your hard drive used you can still get a free transfer kit directly through Microsoft (see Tips).
- Power off your Xbox 360 console and remove any accessories that are connected to the USB ports. Turn on the Xbox 360 controller by pressing the large silver button at the center of the controller.
- Plug the male end of the USB port on the transfer cable into the female USB port on the back side of the Xbox 360 console. Do not plug the cable into the front USB port or the data will not transfer to the new hard drive successfully.
- Attach the other end of the transfer cable to the male port on the new hard drive. Power on the Xbox 360 console and open the DVD tray. Insert the transfer disc that came with the cable into the DVD tray.
- Follow the instructions that will appear on your television screen to initiate the transfer process.
- Power off the Xbox 360 console once the transfer is complete and lift the original hard drive off of the top of the console. Place the new hard drive in its place to use the transferred data.

The product works with memory cards, and it works with Vista. You have to download an update already mentioned in a previous review from the maker's web site. It saves the complete image of a memory card and restores it the same way. I'm only interested in making copies of my own saves because some day that 360 hard drive is going to fail. It works just fine for that purpose, but they should have included the necessary software with it.

Ok, when I first looked at this thing I thought It would be a cheap piece of plastic... But its not! Very easy to use... The only thing that keeps it from getting 5 star is because the Software that comes with it is useless and doesnt work. I just download some other (FREE) software. Great product though!

Received product as expected. Fast shipping, was earlier than I had anticipated. The packaging was complete, and I am very happy with the purchase. I really appreciate the "stop/ pay attention to this" label on the front, because I have noticed some possible "operational defects", that could only be attributed to the manufacturer, and this information, was very succint and indiscreet. However, I am still adjusting the settings, so these seemful "defects" may actually be factory default settings. This is a great item. I had it up and running in 2 minutes and was reading from my hard drive via the usb in no time. It does work on vista, you just have to right click on xplorer360 and run as administrator and it works perfectly. Very cheap, talismoon direct shipped monday i got it friday.
