How to Clean Your Camera Lens:- Choose a clean and dust free area of your room near the window where you can get access to the direct sunlight. Spread a clean sheet and put all your stuff on it
- Remove the filter from your lens and inspect the lens under direct sunlight. Sunlight is the best source of light to inspect your camera lens. You will be able to see even the minutest particle size. Look for any scratches, dirt or grease
- Use your brush to gently remove any dirt and dust
- Spray the lens cleaning fluid directly over the lens and use a microfiber cloth to wipe it off. Repeat the procedure few more times and inspect under direct sunlight. If you are not happy with the results, use higher quantities of lens fluid until all the dirt, dust and grease is removed completely
- Clean your filter following Steps 1 through 4
- Turn on your electric air blower and make sure it is clean. Put a clean piece of cloth or a brand new air filter at the inlet of the blower so that the air that is gushed through its tube is free of dust particles. Blow both surfaces of your lens and filter throughly
- Inspect both the filter ant the lens under sunlight. If you are satisfied with the results place the filter on the lens first. Make sure no particles are trapped between the filter and the lens. Next mount the lens back on the camera body
How to Use a Camera Lens Cleaning Kit:
- Buy a camera lens cleaning kit, available at any camera store. There are different types available, some consisting of just a lens cleaning cloth and perhaps a brush. and others that additionally contain an air blower and a camera lens cleaning solution. I recommend purchasing the latter, as it costs just a few dollars more and gives you more cleaning options
- Use the air blower to blow away any dust or sand from the camera lens prior to doing anything else. This will remove any abrasive particles that could scratch the surface of the lens if you tried to wipe it directly. This step might be enough for cleaning the lens
- If there are still any smudges or spots left on the lens, use the lens cleaning cloth to gently wipe these away using smooth, regular but very gentle strokes to prevent further smudging. Make sure to shake off any dust on the cloth before using, and in between strokes if any dust has accumulated on it. A lens cleaning cloth is specially made to not leave any scratches or smudges if used correctly. If there are really obstinate smudges still left, spray a little cleaning fluid from the kit on to the lens cleaning cloth and repeat above step. Using a camera lens cleaning kit in this fashion should restore your lens to pristine condition in most cases

01-06-2011- Other Thoughts: This is a great for your buck. The blower puffs air strongly, the brush is soft and delicate and does not shed, the spray bottle will give you a very fine mistand the cloth is also not too bad.
