How to Install A Power Supply:

    OPENING THE CASE

    • Depending on which brand of computer your working with figuring out how to open the case can be a little tricky as some may require you to remove a few screws from the side panel and then lift it off where as others may require you to first remove the front and then side panel, and some may even have a side panel that snaps in and out of place with no screws to remove at all. Either way once you have wrestled with your particular machine and finally gained access to the inner hardware it is time to think about the safety of your machine. I would suggest wearing an antistatic bracelet (to prevent static build up from traveling to the sensitive computer components that are housed inside the case) that is if you have one if you don't you can continuously touch the outside metal edges of your computer tower

    REMOVING THE OLD POWER SUPPLY

    • Now it is time to remove the screws that house your old power supply usually there are four mounting screws that hold it in place and by removing these screws the power supply will be free from its housing however it will still be connected to the motherboard by way of the connectors. Set the box aside so that it is as out of the way as possible I would suggest placing it on top of the drive cage to allow yourself enough room to work

    INSTALLING THE NEW POWER SUPPLY

    • While the old power supply is still connected go ahead and bring the new power supply to your work space. This way you can connect the new power supply to the casing by way of four screws that you removed from the old box and then replace the old supply's connectors with the new connectors one by one so that it is easy to keep track of where everything goes. Assuming that you have already checked to make sure your new box is compatible with your system figuring out where each connector goes should not be that difficult especially if you are using the same brand power supply as you were previously using. As I said above I would recommend un-connecting the old box's connectors one at a time and then replacing them with the new ones until you have all the wires in the correct place. It is important to note that with some of the connectors it may take a slight exertion of force to get them out or insert them when you are doing the latter you should hear a snap when they are correctly in place. Once the box is mounted and connected depending on the length of the wires it may be a wise idea to use a wire tie to tie up the slack in the cords and keep them out of the way

    AFTER THE INSTALL

    • Once all is finished inside the case it is time to replace the casing and connect the system back up to its power source. I would also suggest repowering your computer to ensure that the new power supply is working correctly

How to Check Power Supply Voltage:

    • Connect your multimeter probes to your multimeter and turn it on. Observe the correct polarity. The red probe is the positive one, and it is plugged into the red plug on the multimeter. The black probe is the negative or common probe, and is plugged into the black plug on the multimeter
    • Set your multimeter function to measure either an alternating current (AC) or direct current (DC) voltage, depending on the output of your power supply. Most power supplies for commercial use produce a DC voltage
    • Turn on the power supply. Make sure it is plugged into the appropriate power source. Most power supplies operate by plugging into a typical 120 house circuit
    • Connect the multimeter probes to the power supply output terminals by touching the probes to the metal contacts. Power supply outputs are usually marked with a positive (+) sign and a negative (-) sign. Observe the correct polarity with your probes by touching the red probe to the positive terminal and the black probe to the negative terminal
    • Read the multimeter display for the output voltage of the power supply

  • Other Thoughts: Not sure what the previous reviewers problem was with their charger to have it quit on them (maybe he put the batteries in backwards), but you have to understand the basics behind lithium ion battery recharging, you can not insert batteries the wrong way, these are not your normal Duracell/Enegizer batteries. I use 'protected' 18650 batteries to ensure proper charging. There are numerous forums out there that would recomend

  • Other Thoughts: I've had them for about 2 years now and they have all worked flawlessly. The batteries charge quickly and stay charged for a long period. I don't know what more to say... It's not going to land on the moon, its a charger - and it works.

  • Other Thoughts: I purchased this with a pair of 18650 Tenery Li-ion batteries. It's fairly easy to use and I had it up and running in minutes. The charger accepts batteries of different lengths and the bottom contacts slide down to accept longer batteries. The bottom contact is attached to a spring to provide a secure grip on the battery.

00:00:00 02-24-2011 recommend Overall:
  • Other Thoughts: This charger works really good. It's cool also because you can charge the 18650 batteries and the c123 ones also. It works great also the led tells you when they are done charging, you can also use a 12volt adapter like if you wanted to charge them in the car. Awesome product. I recommend the batteries also!

  • Other Thoughts: I use this charger in 220-240 volt outlet & it does not get hot or warm. That is something that impresses me. But I still would not leave it unattended for long. That's me being safe.

00:00:00 01-26-2011 Nice charger Overall:
  • Other Thoughts: Nice charger, at a decent price. Been using it for a couple months and is still working fine. The design of the charger could use some work, there are gaps in the body of the charger which dust can get into, so it could cause a short circuit as time goes on.

00:00:00 01-13-2011 just fine Overall:
  • Other Thoughts: I bought a few of them and they all charge the Li-ion 14500 and other cylindrical cells I've bought just fine. Have had no problems with any of them. They all work just fine.
