How to Remove Belly Button Rings:
If you have a belly button ring, you can easily remove it on your own. Whether you're tired of having it and want it out for good, or you simply want to switch it out for a different ring, removing the ring requires some care
Instructions- Wash your hands with antibacterial soap and water. You want your hands to be clean in order to prevent infection
- Hold the base of the belly button ring with one hand. Place the forefinger and thumb of your other hand on the small ball at the end of the ring
- Unscrew the ball by turning it counter-clockwise. Though less common, some belly button rings unscrew if you turn them clockwise. Gently test the ring to determine which way to turn the ball
- Remove the ball from the end of the ring once you have fully unscrewed it
- Pull the barbell portion of the belly button ring down. While you pull it down, bring it away from your body, effectively removing it from your belly button hole
- Go to a professional piercing shop or a doctor's office if you have difficulty removing the belly button ring. Never force the ring out as this can tear your skin and lead to scarring
How to Disinfect Belly Button Rings:
Belly button rings are becoming a popular form of body jewelry along with earrings, nose rings, lip rings and tongue studs. You should have these piercings done at a tattoo shop or other store that specializes in the work. However, even after the piercing is performed, it is critical that you always make sure the jewelry is disinfected, otherwise you could risk an infection
Instructions- Wash your hands with soap and water. This is the first step in the process of disinfecting your belly button ring. You don't want to go to the trouble of cleaning the belly button ring only to have bacteria from your hands take hold on the ring while you are piercing yourself or someone else
- Place the belly button ring in a small cup or bowl and cover it with alcohol. Rub the alcohol onto the ring and swish the ring around in the alcohol. The idea is for the alcohol to reach all exposed areas of the belly button ring and kill the bacteria
- Empty the alcohol from the cup or bowl. Repeatedly rinse the belly button ring in sterile water to remove all traces of alcohol from the ring
