- Pour some of the alcohol onto a cotton ball. Rub the cotton ball thoroughly all over the leather belt. You may need to use more than one cotton ball if the first one becomes mangled. Repeat this process two more times to ensure the alcohol has soaked into the leather
- Use Vaseline to rub onto the belt as well. This product can be purchased at most grocery stores and drug stores. This process is best done by using your fingers. Make sure you rub the entire belt with the Vaseline. You will not have to repeat this process. By performing this step, the leather is not only loosened, but it is also softened
- Use the same technique as mentioned before on all your other leather products. Shoes, belts, purses and wallets can all receive the same treatment and will all be loosened and softened by the above process. This process will also protect your shoes from water damage as well
How to Stretch a Leather Belt:
Stretching your leather belt allows you to keep it for a longer period of time and still enjoy its fashion benefits- Add a hole to your belt with a leather punch. Look at the location of the holes on your belt, and note where you desire to insert a new hole
- Add three cups of heated water and one cap of rubbing alcohol to a plastic spray bottle and shake it up. Spray the entire belt, and place the belt around your waist as you normally would when you wear the item. Wear the belt in your home until it is no longer wet
- Alternately, you can buy a chemical solution at your local shoe shop. This mixture will cause the collagen in your leather belt to deteriorate and cause your belt to elongate. Use this chemical shoe stretcher in the same way that you would use the alcohol to perform its function
- Purchase a conditioner at a leather goods store to use on your belt. Read the labels of the products in the store and find a conditioner that contains lanolin, so your pants and shirts will not stain easily

09-13-2011- Other Thoughts: I like the fact that is a full 1 and 1/2 inches wide and it fits with jeans perfectly. It is fully adjustable and you just cut it to fit. You can't got wrong with this purchase and as always with ordering and receiving it is fast and painless.
