How to Fix the Trackpad on a BlackBerry Curve
When the trackpad on your BlackBerry Curve freezes, there are steps you can take to fix it yourself. The trackpad on your BlackBerry Curve acts like a miniature optical mouse. Occasionally, you may find a gentle dry dusting around it improves performance. If you have left your Curve in direct sunlight for too long, you may find that it does not work like it did when it was new. Knowing basic troubleshooting methods to fix your trackpad can help keep the phone in your pocket and out of the repair shop
Trackpad- Go to options and click on "View Options." Scroll to "Screen/Keyboard" and "Trackpad."
- Highlight and click on "Horizontal Sensitivity" to increase or decrease the trackpad's sensitivity. Do the same with "Vertical Sensitivity."
- Click on "Menu" and then "Save."
Soft or Hard Reboot- Press "Alt" plus "Cap" plus "Backspace" or "Alt" plus "Cap" plus "Delete" at the same time on your keypad. The specific combination of keys depends on your Curve model. Wait for your phone to finish its soft reboot. If the trackpad still doesn't work after a soft reboot, try a hard reboot
- Remove the battery cover on the back and remove the battery. Wait for at least 15 seconds and replace the battery and cover. Your phone should now begin the reboot process
- Test the responsiveness of your Curve's trackpad
Reload Software- Connect your Curve to your computer and open the BlackBerry Desktop Manager. Click "Device" and select "Update My Device." On the dialog box that appears, click on "View Other versions." Select the upgrade option and then click on "Install Upgrade." You may have to enter your phone's password to start the installation
- Check which applications you want to load. Click "Settings and check "Delete All Application Data" and "Erase All Currently Installed Applications." Uncheck the "Back Up Device Data Automatically During Installation" button. Click "OK," "Next" and "Finish."
- Close the software and return to the BlackBerry Desktop Manager
Tips & Warnings- Reinstalling the software might erase data on the phone. Back up data first

11-10-2010- Other Thoughts: i have installed this product and my BlackBerry is now working. only problem with the purchase is that there are no instructions what so ever as to how to disassemble your phone or reassemble after the new part is put in. i now have no earpiece funtioning from my BlackBerry since i was not aware of the little black clip to disengage the ribbon connector.
