How to Wash:
Chiffon is sheer fabric traditionally made from silk; budget chiffon is usually nylon, rayon or polyester; both types of chiffon appear in finer garments and household fabrics like curtains. Due to its sheer nature, designers often use chiffon on top of an opaque fabric in special garments, including wedding dresses. Because of the fabric's delicate nature, it's important to clean chiffon only when necessary, and to use a silk-friendly detergent.
•l Add the fabric to the washing machine and fill with cool water. The ideal temperature is 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Do not add any other clothes to the wash, since silk chiffon can bleed
•l Pour a mild laundry detergent into the washing machine and set the machine to the gentlest cycle possible. Run the machine on the shortest cycle. The longer the chiffon is in the water, the more likely the colors will bleed and fade
•l Dry the chiffon in the dryer on a short, cool cycle. Silk does not take long to dry, so watch it carefully and remove it as soon as it is finished so wrinkles don't set
Rayon is a fiber made from wood pulp. When knitted or woven, it produces a light fabric suitable for garments, bedding and many other items for your home. As with most other fabrics, you will need to clean your rayon items regularly. But before you toss that rayon blouse or sheet into the basket with the rest of your laundry, keep in mind that rayon needs a bit of special care
•l Launder all washable rayon by hand. It is vulnerable to damage when it's wet, so a washing machine's agitation could ruin it
•l Wash your rayon garment in cool or tepid water with a detergent made for hand washing. Gently squeeze the soapsuds into the fabric. Rinse thoroughly in cool water
•l Handle with care. Never wring, twist or bunch up rayon. Shake it out gently and smooth out the wrinkles with your hands
•l Hang your garment on a plastic or padded hanger to dry. Wire hangers will leave rust spots on it. If it could lose its shape, dry it flat. It will dry best on a drying rack if you have one
Iron rayon material inside out to keep it from shining. Use low heat and press it while it is slightly damp to ease the wrinkling. If you must touch up the right side of the garment, cover it with a cloth first
