How to Remove Old Stains on a Blouse:
Old, set-in stains can be the most difficult type of stains to remove. This is because the stain has had a chance to dry and completely seep into the fibers of the fabric. If you notice an old stain on a blouse, for example, you'll need to use gentle and specific cleaning methods to not only remove the stain but protect the fine fabric of your blouse
- Scrape away any residue of the old stain from your blouse using a dull kitchen knife
- Add some vinegar to a cloth and use it to dab the stain firmly. If the blouse is made from cotton, rayon, triacetate, silk or acetate, skip this step
- Mix several drops of clear shampoo with a few cups of warm water. Dip a cloth into the mixture and dab your blouse firmly. Continue to do so for two or three minutes until the fabric is nearly dry
- Put some rubbing alcohol into an eyedropper if you can still see the old stain on your blouse. Test one drop of rubbing alcohol on the inside of the blouse to make sure the fabric responds well to it. Add several drops directly to the stain and blot immediately. This is especially effective at lifting stains like ink
- Apply a pre-wash stain remover to your blouse and let it sit for several minutes. Read the label on the container of stain remover to make sure it mentions the fabric your blouse is made of. Some fabrics, such as silk, may need a specifically designed stain remover. Launder your blouse as usual, or gently remove the stain with a few dabs of warm water if it is dry-clean only, and then air dry

A silk blouse can be a trendy addition to any wardrobe. Fashionable all year long, a silk blouse can look nice no matter what the occasion, without overdoing it or feeling under-dressed. Silk is a highly delicate material that can easily be damaged, so proper care of these blouses is imperative. Though cleaning a silk blouse may be a bit more time-consuming than other blouses, it's worth it to keep the blouse looking new
- Fill the sink or bathtub with cold water and add 2 to 3 tbsp. of hair shampoo. Shampoo is good for silk, as it feed the proteins that are in the fabric
- Submerge the blouse in the water and allow it to soak for up to 20 minutes
- Hand wash the blouse by rubbing it against itself in the soapy water. If there are areas that are stained, add shampoo to those areas and gently work it in with your fingers
- Rinse the blouse in cold, clean water to remove the soap. Be thorough, so you don't leave a residue behind
- Lay a clean, dry towel on a flat surface and lay the blouse on top of it. Place a second towel over the blouse and roll the blouse up into the towels to help to remove excess water
- Unroll the towels and remove the blouse. Lay the blouse out flat to dry
