How to Use Lens Hood in Studio:

    Canon Lens Hood

    • Remove the lens cap from the camera
    • Attach the lens hood to the camera. Lens hoods attach by screwing into, clipping onto, or fitting over the outside of the lens
    • Check the shadow of the lens hood. If direct light is passing into the lens, it will appear as a "lens flare". Adjust the lens hood to block direct light by twisting it on the lens
    • Check the position of the lights, reflectors and subject. Using a lens hood is preferable in a studio situation in which the lights, reflectors, and subject are set up optimally, but light is still directly entering the lens and causing flares. If there is no better orientation for the studio lighting equipment or subject, a lens hood is the best choice to block excess, flaring light

Methods to Clean Mold on Camera Lens:

    Lens Hood for Canon

    • Purchase a cleaning product. These include Clorox Germicidal Spray, Tilex Mildew Remover and 500 PSI Mask Scrub. You can use almost any product that removes mold on glasses or lenses. Read the warning label for the product you choose
    • Rub the lens cloth over the camera lens. Remove any grime or dirt that is present. This will allow you to see the damage more clearly
    • Dip one lens cloth in warm water. Squeeze out any surplus of water. Extra water can seep into the camera if not careful
    • Wipe the lens with the damp cloth. Concentrate on the mold section and any small creases around the camera lens. This will move any remaining dirt
    • Spray or pour a drop of cleaner on the second lens cloth. Polish the camera lens thoroughly. Cover ever part of the mold pores including around any creases
    • Use the third lens cloth to wipe the moisture off. Towel it completely dry. Then store it in a safe, dry location

    Package Included:

  • Other Thoughts: There's not much to say. The Canon lens hood does its job. It's easy to mount/unmount and can be mounted in reverse.

  • Other Thoughts: Snaps right on. Clearly overpriced but 20 something bucks isn't a bankbreaker. The Canon lens hood does spin around as opposed to twisting and locking like the better ones but seems okay and doesn't really affect performance.

  • Other Thoughts: Every lens needs a camera lens hood. You'll end up wishing you had it later anyway. It's great for keeping out the sunflare, and protecting your lens from bumps and bruises, as well as kids fingers and rain drops.

00:00:00 04-20-2011 Essential Accessory Overall:
  • Other Thoughts: I bought this Canon lens hood for Canon's 85mmf1.8 lens, one incredible lens. <br/>Years ago I went to a lecture by Ernst Wilde, MR. Hasseblad himself, where he showed the difference that a lens hood would make on a Hasseblad lens. Since then I have always used them faithfully on every lens I own. The longer the lens, the more efective the lens hood can be if it is specifically designed for that lens. This is the hood Canon has for their medium telephoto lenses, the 85f1.8, 100usm macro, and 135mmf2.8 lenses. The hood will protect your lens from dust, scratches, damage, while at the same time preserving the maximum contrast your lens can deliver. This differs from a filter, that will take away from the inherit lens sharpness and contrast. A analogy is wearing a baseball cap which will improve your vision and protect your eyes from cataracts, while not distorting your vision like sunglasses will.

00:00:00 10-11-2011 Better than I expected Overall:
  • Other Thoughts: This lens hood for Canon is easy for me to use. With the hood attached on my 85/1.8 lens, I can easily get on or off the lens cap. It's not that bad as someone put on their negative comments. I am a woman and my finger size is normal. It might be a different experience for someone with quite big hands.
