How to Protect the Lens of a Canon?

    • The best way to protect the lens is to keep the lens cover on at all times when not filming.
    • Attach the lens hood to protect the lens and shade it from unwanted light and unwanted fingerprints.
    • Buy and attach a UV filter protect from scratches, dust, fingerprints, and UV rays.
    • Avoid exposing the lens to harsh weather conditions or storing near dusty or sandy areas. If filming on the beach, watch out for salt water spray which is extremely corrosive - keep the hood on and use a filter.
    • Clean the lens by gently blowing dust from the lens or using a soft, dry cleaning cloth (preferably microfiber) to remove unwanted particles or fingerprints.

How to Remove a Lens Cap?

    • A standard lens cover usually comes with a camera. Smaller digital point-and-shoot cameras like Nikon Coolpix or the Canon Powershot typically have lens covers that automatically retract when you click the power button. Larger SLR and digital SLR cameras, like the Canon Rebel, typically have removable lens caps that come with the camera. On these cameras, you will need to remove the lens cap before you can take a picture. Overall, the cap is a valuable asset to a camera, as it protects the lens from getting scratches or dirt on the it when it is not in use.

    Instructions:

    • Be aware of your surroundings. Make sure you will not be able to drop the lens cap off a cliff or drop it in someone's drink by accident. Take the lens cap off before turning the camera on. Sometimes the lens cap will pop off the camera and damage the cap
    • Grab hold of your camera so that it won't fall out of your hands by placing your right hand under the camera to get a firm grip. You can also put the camera's strap around your neck for security
    • Place your forefinger and the thumb of your free hand around the cap. Many lens caps have two small latches across from each other. If that is the case, press the latches in toward each other
    • Pull off the lens cap and start taking photographs. Put your lens cap somewhere you will remember.
    • Replace the lens cap after each use. It will protect your lens from getting dirty or cracked

    Package Included:

    • 1 x Lens Cap with Strap for Canon

00:00:00 03-11-2011 This one is good! Overall:
  • Other Thoughts: I lost the original cap and was desperately looking for the cap. When I got in the mail I was disappointed because it was not the exact one. But then as I found out, this was even better. It fits better and is more secure. It worked out even better for me!

00:00:00 02-24-2011 Great cap...forgetful photographer. Overall:
  • Other Thoughts: These are great caps for me and I haven't had any trouble with them staying on, albeit all my lenses are Canon. The problem is that I take them off and forget where I laid it or, in one case, I put one in my pocket and forgot it...didn't fare well in the dryer!!! The only smart thing I have done is order an extra and keep it in a zippered pocket in my case...now if I don't forget where the extra is.

00:00:00 02-21-2011 great buy! Overall:
  • Other Thoughts: I could not get the Canon E-58U lens cap to fit on my CanonPowershot SX20IS. I am returning it. The 58mm UV filter did not fit either. I will probably go on line with Canon to find a UV filter and lens cap that will work.

  • Other Thoughts: Bought this for the kit lens (18-55mm) on my Rebel XTi to replace one that I lost, and as far as I can tell, it's identical to that one. Good price.

00:00:00 02-17-2011 Nice Canon Front Lens Cap! Overall:
  • Other Thoughts: Lost my original canon cap in the woods somewhere, bought this to replace it. It works! I found my old one in the woods a year later, cleaned it off, and now I don't know which is which. I use them both. They are the same.

00:00:00 02-04-2011 Canon Front Lens Cap. Overall:
  • Other Thoughts: I purchased for 18-55mm lens on Rebel Xti. It fits snug and snaps on securely. I was skeptical after reading some of the reviews. Great fit here!
