Basic Structure:
How to Maintain a Car DVD Player:
- Start basic and simply make sure the device is plugged in properly to the power outlet. You want to check for shorts in the power supply cord as well by jiggling the cord around and seeing if the device turns on and off
- Check the connections the DVD player has to the television set to make sure it is hooked up properly and that all connections are still functioning. Sometimes connections can come a bit loose and this can cause you to have problems as well. Tighten up the connections and see if the player begins working correctly
- Unscrew the DVD player housing and remove it from the device. Lift the clamp so that the DVD player lens is exposed for you to clean
- Take your canned air and spray away any dust off of the lens and any other part of the inside of the DVD player to remove excessive dust and build up. If a build up of dust gets on the lens, it will be unable to read the DVD discs you insert into your DVD player. It is good to routinely give your DVD player a good cleaning even when working properly to avoid build up
- Replace the DVD player housing and secure it back in place using the screwdriver. Turn on your DVD player and test your repairs. If the DVD player is still not working correctly, you may want to remove the DVD and give it a good cleaning as well with your canned air and wiping it with a soft cloth

05-26-2011- Other Thoughts: This in dash double din DVD is pretty mean! It looks awesome in my car and it's really attractive. It has a good sized screen and is probably the best cheaper deck you can get for your money. Just $400. Shipping was fast, but I got the priority shipping and it came pretty fast. I probably should of just stuck with the free shipping if I knew they would have shipped it that fast. Anyway I'm pretty stoked about the deck and the service because I tried going with a couple of other websites online like deal cost car audio and they took forever to get this deck in stock and in fact never did even though they kept saying they would have it in a few days. Okay thanks.

05-12-2011- Other Thoughts: I've owned tons of touchscreen headunits, about 5 so far, and in the $300-500 range with 7" of screen, this one is the best I've experienced so far. Storing movies in a harddrive and playing them via the USB input is the best. No need for an ipod anymore since you can load movies/mp3s in the SD card and put into the headunit. <br/> <br/>The ONLY reason this review is 4 stars and the one flaw i'm talking about is the video input/outputs. There's only one of each. That means if you decide to go for an aftermarket rear-view camera (the one made for this headunit is ridiculous at $100+), you're stuck with only that input unless you change it to something else. Also only one video output meaning you can only really hook up 1 or 2 monitors for the rear before you start splitting the outputs and sacrificing quality on your screens. <br/> <br/>Other than that little detail, this headunit is awesome and highly recommended if you're not running some ridiculous 10 monitor setup in your car!

05-03-2011- Other Thoughts: Spent months researching for the right head unit for my car. Bought the Alpine IXA-404... what a mistake. Alpine has a good rep on its expensive units, this one was horrible, bad sound, not user friendly at all. NOW the Pioneer 4200 DVD is a great unit, it enhances the Radio & iPod sound... great processor. Artwork looks great... LOVE the EQ... DVD looks great as well. FYI this unit starts up immediately, unlike the old NAV units. Ordered the Bluetooth and I am sure it will work great.

04-27-2011- Other Thoughts: I love this double din for those who say it doesnt work you must not have had it installed right never had a problem out of mine I even put a toggle switch on it for I can have a movie playing while I drive and it works perfect it takes any size sd card and for the price it is a good buy.

04-22-2011- Other Thoughts: Reading some other reviews here I see users who need more and expect more from a dash receiver than I do. While they may be more discriminating and offer good info it doesn't pertain to my needs or particular uses for this head unit. I was mainly concerned with upgrading the SOUND from my pitiful stock Bose unit and gaining some video playback capability along with MP3 files on a flash card or my Samsung P3. In these areas I'm very satisfied with the performance. Stereo quality is very clean with 14 watts rms being more than ample to drive some 6x9 and 6.5 inch Pioneer speakers also from Amazon purchased using a recent 30% off promo code. That made this an even better deal for upgrading the basic factory stereo. Yes, it doesn't scroll file names, skip ahead 30 seconds on video or play common video codecs but pop in a music video DVD like The 25th Anniversary Rock & Roll Concerts and simply enjoy the excellent sound and screen playback you get with this receiver. Other than maybe adding on XM radio I don't need the numerous add-on modules or the cost and complexity. For my buck this unit is easy to use, sounds great and has all the flexibility I require. It does what I wanted hands down!

04-04-2011- Other Thoughts: Well, what can I say. I love it!! The most important thing I am impressive for is the sound. It has a lot of options for sound and also two custom profiles. The only thing I am not too happy is that it doesn't fill perfectly in my Tucson 2009. I don't know if the person who installed it didn't know how to do it or something, but It is a little just a little out from the radio box. Well that is all I have to say about my purchase. I'm very happy with it.
